Customer Service
Recently I've had a really terrible experience with Verizon customer service, who seem to be always rated the best in that area.
I live in NE Ohio halfway between Akron and Youngstown. I've been with Verizon for 3 years and have always had service in this area. In Oct. of 2004 I upgraded to a V710 and had been enjoying really fantastic reception in the area until Mon Sept. 26th. That day I could not manage to connect for more than 18 seconds on any call. So I called customer service.
First call: Tues, 27th. The first level of tech support was really unhelpful, explaining that I was on the edge of digital coverage and Verizon doesn't actually guarantee that their phones work everywhere, all the time. After explaining to him that it work...

Customer service was right about one thing. We did just turn on service in the Youngstown area at the end of September. What they probably didn't tell you is that when you were updating your roaming list, you need to use a different code to get it to pick up those towers.
Dial *22807 on your phone and use option 1. This is what we had to use in the Zanesville area when we opened it this time last year. For the 1st 6-8 months this will be the way to update your phone. By doing this you will be able to take advantage of the new towers and get the service you are use to.
I hope this helps.

DocDart.... âšī¸ just come to Cingular where your phone automatically updates and the service is always 100% digital. This way you wont have these horror stories to tell. đ

Sorry shadow, that did not help.

there is actually an issue with the v710 not necessarily the network.

I don't think thats even remotely it, or if it was, you'd need to be more specific. This is my third V710 now, the first never had any reception problems but was replaced because the camera bezel popped off. The second was replaced as I stated before because the tier two tech support person in my first call thought it was the phone and I had it replaced. Also as previously noted my mother has the same problem with a much older LG phone.
