Verizon buying Alltel!
Just kidding. 😛 But does anyone think that this will ever happen. They're both CDMA, so its an easy transition. I do know that VZW is buying some regional carrier in Michigan, I can't remember the name.

You know, I hope it happens! Alltel is firmly ensconsed in Charlottesville, and I would absolutely LOVE to see Verizon take over this market. I'm sure the other CDMA carriers down here, Sprint, nTelos, and U.S. Cellular would not be so happy about it, and I think they would absolutely blow both T-Mobile AND Cingular out of the water altogether. I still keep a Verizon number from the DC market, simply because it's a better deal than what I can get locally. Not only that, Verizon surrounds Charlottesville, and I believe it's not a matter of "if", but "when" they will be here.

It will never happen but I can not say never cause look at sprint and Nextel. But one alltel has said many times they are not up for sale. another thing is alltel is trying their best right now to be known as a national carrier so look for them to be purchasing more regional carriers to beef up their network. Also Alltel at its current state is to profitable for Verizon to purchase.
