Text Messages question...

Acehole

I keep getting text messages from different people. They say 26/F wants to chat, or 34/M and so on. I ignore them, but is there a way to prevent getting them?

You may want to quit ignoring them and find out who they are coming from, because at $0.10 per message received, that can add up.

They are probably coming from the texting date line that you sent a message to while you were drunk last weekend with your friends.

It wasn't intended to be useless. It was partially intended to help, and partly to make you laugh. Geesh.

I have never been hit with unsolicited text messages to any of my cell phones (no matter what carrier) unless I had originally sent a message to that service in the first place, or if it was from the carrier directly, which is a free message. Thus, if this is happening to you, you need to call VZW and have them address it, or at least guide you in how to address it. Those charges could add up quick.

You may also have passed along your phone # to a dating service, perhaps? Or someone else did as a joke? Or, quite possibly, it's just spam. I'd follow SForsyth01's advice, tout suite.

You're signed up for a premium text messaging service. Kind of like Jamster but it's txt messages. I will bet $10 that your next bill will show you being charged between $0.50 to $1.00 per message.

Reply with "Stop" and they should stop. If not, go to vtext.com and block the address they are coming from.

Do you have your AOL instant messenger forwarded to your phone? If you do you most likely are getting IM's from bots on your screename.

Come to find out a friend of mine signed me up to "SMSac.com". I guess that is where they were coming from. Apparently it is easy to set up a acct. for someone on that site. Long story sort, I got it fixed. Thanks for everybody's help!
