Okay, so after heading to my local verizon store i looked at a few of the phones although i have been anxiously awaiting the Razr. Which of these phones do you think i should get as my next? The Razr, LG VX9800, Samsung A970, or the Samsung A950... I need the best advice please. I greatly appreciate this in advance. Thank you

I think you should get a motorola V120. Do some research, don't just come here for a handout. Click the nice "Carriers" link on the left, then verizon, then read about the diffrent phone, includeing the reviews. Also, if you don't like reading, they have pretty pictures.

Yes I do, because if you actualy did your research, that would include going to the store, and trying it out. I know as soon as i'm out of contract, what phone i'm going to get. I'm not trying to be a "hater" "bro", (BTW dont call me bro, you don't know me) but i'm tired of seeing dumb posts in forums with titles like "HELP!!!!!! PLZ!!!!!! READ ME!!!! HELP HELP HELP" and in the thread it reads "I'm going to buy a phone next week, what one should I get?".

When in doubt, RTFM.

I thought the point of these forums was to help us others out and give your opinions of these phones. Why can you not just help the guy out or stay quiet. I do not thinkg his question is out of line he just wants some knowledgeable input but I guess that is too much to ask on a customer friendly forum like phonescoop.

give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.

This can be applied to searching. Your not going to get anywhere in life by asking for information, you have to LOOK for it.

I don't see you helping him, only bashing me. I'm not trying to be snooty, just asking him to put in a little effort before asking for help. This site has a carrier page that lists ALL of the carriers phones, and it also contains reviews. I wouldn't mind helping, but only after he has pulled his weight, and at least TRIED to look. All he has to say is "I looked in the Verizon page, compared specs; and would like some input, because I'm not sure how X is different then XX, because both seem to have similar specs." I'm not asking too much, am I?

Dear Verizonuser 130 - please excuse the rudeness of 'ask the shack' or is it 'don't ask the shack'????

I see you are only asking for an opinion on which phone to get. I am more than happy to give you mine.

l. LG vx9800 - good choice if you do alot of texting & like a good size screen for vcast, pix's , etc. Only downside is it is large.

2. Samsung a950 - nice phone, fair camera. I currently have this phone & give it a C+. It is very slippery to hold & the reception is not as good as the LG vx9800. Other than that it is good. Speakerphone is great & can be used with the flip closed.

3. Samsung a970 - twisting flip is an accident waiting to happen. I feel this phone is way to thick at the hinge due to the way the camera...

You didn't mention the LG VX8100. I tried out the Motorola E815, LG VX9800, SAMSUNG SCH-a950 and I have to say out of all the phones, I chose to stay with the 8100 for several different and various reasons. You may want to check it out.

I know people can be rude when you ask a question like you did, but EVERYONE is different on what they like in a phone (style, color, shape, weight, features, etc. etc. etc.) so it is so hard to say what exactly is the best phone because the best phone for me may not be the best phone for you.

Okay first off id like to say thank you for the ones who helped and i greatly appreciate it. As for ask the shack he needs a reality check. regardless my brother has the 8100 i like it, but as of right now i have the 8000 so im looking for something a little different. And i think your right, im either going to go with the 9800 or the Razr. Debating between the two. So thank you very much for your information.

Two things for "Ask The Shack". First off your name says "ASK" Then when someone asks you a question you get upset??? Secondly I hope that you keep that same attitude when you go see a Doctor or Lawyer... Go get the answer yourself. It is pretty simple, either help the guy out or pass on buy the thread.

OK, so I read some of your posts and wonder why you get off on being a jerk. You've been on here less than a month, and you have in your profile that you want help advancing in the industry.

As someone in a position to help others advance I can say me and others like me would walk the other way.

Oh and by the way, the creators of this website did so SPECIFICALLY for people like this guy, to give him another option for help. Before you come in here swatting everyone down right off the bat perhaps you should do your homework and learn what the owners of the site desire and not what annoys you.

Hey, I have nothing agenst helping someone, but only AFTER they try to help themself. At least search the forum, If I saw "I searched the forum but couldn't find any info on...." then fine, fair enough, he did his research, but to just come on the forum, and basicly say "I'm too lazy to look, and want a handout" I don't have much respect.

Take me for instance. I am looking into switching from Verizon to Cingular because I don't like how verizon cripples phones. Heck, with my 710, with the old software I could transfer MP3s from the memory card, and then apply it as a ring tone. When I got a FRU exchange Guess what? It had new software that removed that function. Bluetooth is one thing, but when a phone HAS a feature, and they take it away...

You have no idea if he did or didn't search (and he did say he ALREADY went into a store.

If you don't want people asking questions, this probably isn't the place for you. That is what the site is designed for and your little attitude goes directly against the site founders.

And not only that, your saying that ur not asking the world and have me just do research. Well am i asking to much for a simple opinion? Im not asking the world. In fact im not asking u to say anything at all. If you feel you can answer my opinion respectfully then fine that would be excellent. If you cant dont say anything and move on the next thing you were working on.

What are the main things you want in a phone? Each of these phones offer different things and I think it really depends on that. You didn't mention the LG VX8100, have you considered that one? That is what I have and I love it.

But anyways, let us know what it is you are really looking for in a phone and maybe we can help a little more. 🙂

May I respectfully suggest, Verizonuser130, that you do the research AND feel free to ask questions as well. You might even pick up a magazine outlining all the models that are either in use today or about to come out, and, for sure, check out the manufacturers' sites, too. I can understand Ask The Shack's frustration, and essentially agree that no one source has all the answers, and your needs may be different in some ways as well, but to be honest, many of folks who come to this forum are not into the particulars some of us are. Good idea to do a little digging. After all, once the grace period is gone, you're stuck with your handset for the duration of your contract unless you want to purchase something else at full retail.

REsearch is cool if you want specs but he is asking for real world opinions on the phone and research will not give him the answers he needs. If I knew the phones I would help him out but since I don't Ido not think he his asking for too much to get working opinions on these phones since that is what he is asking for. This forum is to help people out, not bash each other or customers. Like someone else said if you think he is ignorant then pass the thread by, if you want to help then just please help. I do not think it is to much to ask.

personal/professional opinion.

9800- nice phone for an upgrade (i like it, but i dont like it for 300 on DISCOUNT (thats alomst the retail on most other phones) My personal recomondation is the 815 for function, or the 8100 for style/memory space. I normaly hate the LG's (cough, hack, 6100, sneeze-4500) and dont have much love for the sam-sunks (sniffle,a670) Now thats not to say I don't have problems with Motos as well (hold on a sec, got a v265 with speaker problems.....) I guess you can kinda see what i'm saying. All phones have their quirks, some more than others. From a tech point of view, most of the newer higer end phones I see few problems (the 8100 being the exception). Really, though, I'd say anything but a nokia or Audiovox. Wh...

Okay i would just like to state.. I did do research ive searched other websites and eventually id find good things in some and then bad things and then they just began to start cancelling eachother out. So i did go to my verizon store..Checked them out (except the razr obviously) and still have yet to find out which one i like best. I uunderstand what they all do, i understand all the pros and cons of each phone. I was asking a simple opinion from a fellow customer or maybe even an employee with experience with any of these phones to see how they like them. So before everyone starts jumping to conclusions and making assumptions. Dont assume that I didnt do anything because im asking a question. Just remember when you ASSuME, you make an ASS ...
