Phone Number Help

I just switched over to Verizon a couple days ago. I keep getting calls for this one guy and I get Spam text messages. I guess that this was a previously used number. Is there a way for Verizon to provide me with a brand new number so I don't get this again?

Just call customer service, and you can have the number changed. Be aware, if changing in the middle of your bill cycle, it will prorate your mintues, so you may want to wait to the first of your bill cycle (ask c/s what the date is if you're not sure). You can block spam text messsages @ vtext.com, which is verizon's text website. You just need to register and then put the phone number or email address on the block list. Hope this helps.

I have had to change my number for the same reason and we did not get a prorate bill. If you stay on the same plan you are on, all you are doing is changing your number, there is no change. Ask your rep about it. Sounds to me like verizon needs to keep the numbers out of circulation a little longer then they do.

Do they even have brand new numbers that haven't been used? I am going into the store today to change it so hopefully they give me one where it is new or it has been out of circulation for awhile.
