Guys

I know this might be redundant but I have not got any of the phones and I have had most of them to dump data to the Lexus Bluetooth.

Is a cracked 815 able to do it ?

I will tell you that the I730 was able to do it but my wife will never carry that monster..

Thanks for the help

theatermax, I could not with a v710 and after talking to Lexus customer service as well as Verizon tech support at the time, it was not going to happen. I went out and bought a prepaid tMobile compatible phone, loaded it up with my contacts and then uploaded that to the Lexus. This too was problematic was each entry had to be uploaded one at a time...very slow :-(

I have heard through these forums that there is an update for the v710 which addresses this issue, but I gave that phone to my son when I moved to the Verizon Blackberry. I'll see if the problem is "fixed" when I dump the bberry as my phone and get a Razr or Nokia when they come out.

Though I fault VZW for a lot of this, truth be told, Lexus/Denso has a big role this shortcom...

The bottom line with the Lexus issue is that BT software is not at an industry standard yet.... Different car companies choose what features they want embedded in the nav systems of new cars. The new lexus features a bluetooth only, contact add feature. This is a mistake on lexus's part. As of now, Verizon specifies BT as headset compatible only. Other car companies such as Chrysler, and Honda have features in the nav system that allow the car to access the contact features of the verizon phone. Nevertheless your only option is to use another phone such as a cingular phone that has open bt and transfer your contacts one by one. It's a small task to complete however don't let the open BT be enough to go to cingular when every call you m...

So if I understand correctly, even if Verizon released a fully open BT phone, it still may or not allow me to transfer my phonebook, even one by one?

Though I like BT a lot, I must admit that I am missing my installed car kit. For the last 8 to 9 years I always purchased the car phone kit w/antenna for my vehicles and had it professionally installed. After driving my wife's car yesterday (she still has her car kit) I realize that it (installed car kit) is a much better option, at least for me, than the BT connection.

Lexus is the only car with this problem... good luck

Well, not really. Lexus and Toyota have the same Denso car kit factory installed and you can transfer the whole phonebook at once using some phones and not with others. For example, it works perfectly with most Sony phones and none of the Motorolas.

Here are the owners Manuals for each phone that is recommended as compatible with Toyota / Lexus. You can see which ones transfer contacts one at a time.

Can anyone explain why two phones with the same Bluetooth specification behave differently on these cars?

The I730 Samsung on VERIZON lets you do it all.. But unfort. my wife does not want an I730.. In the I730 you can highlight 1 name or all names , whatever you wish and hit send and the Lexus takes them in perfectly.

So what does it look like ? Simply the send software in the phones. The file tranfer program to send the names is either there or not.. It's so simple and I can't believe people are not writing Get it now software to do this. It's all that is needed. A simple send app that transmits data over bluetooth.

Actually the ability to do that was built into the Bluetooth phones already in most cases.

On the E815, the phone was originally designed to allow commands like Contacts > Send or File > Copy > Bluetooth however the manufacturer pulled that feature just before the phone was released to the public.

The new Nokia 6256i for Verizon has those file transfer features, a camera and BREW so I ...
