Sigman is the best advertisement for Verizon..
Verizon could not pay for a better spokesperson for Verizon.

Cingular has to be truly beat down for a CEO to come out and claim defeat and weregonnas.

I'd say that was a supreme bonehead move by a CEO

(unless of course Verizon seizes the bait and raises prices being the anointed premiere Carrier now by Cingular's CEO)

I thought about that, although the subject line of your post is hysterical.

I can't help but think that Siggy was lead in the interview. All your reading are responses. The questions asked that he was answerring couldn't have been as easy as:

"Mr Sigman, why does your company suck compared to Verizon?"

I think he was lead in a way... IMO I used Cingy, my wife used them since mid 90's with BSM, I have no complaints, whatsoever, service, network, etc...

I kinda doubt Sigman was lead or manipulated in the interview. CEOs of multibillion dollar corporations are like politicians. They know exactly what they wanna say an' god help you in tryin' to make 'em say anythin' different. I watched teh Nightly Business Report the other day, and the Sprint CEO and cable company CEO came on there talkin' 'bout their deal. They were so on message that they didn' even really answer the reporters questions. They sounded like a pair o' PR robots.

I think Sigman was jus' tryin' to reassure investors. After all that interview came out shortly after Cingular reported some pretty disappointing 3rd quarter numbers (and just after Verizon reported some great numbers).

You reassure your investors (who are smar...

Maybe he can't get Cingular coverage where he lives. I don't think he should have mentioned Verizon so much in the interview, but I do appreciate a business person who tries to be honest and upfront about their services. If he came out and lied I'd think much less of Cingular's business plans and he'd probably be "flamed" even more for anything he said. The reason many companies go under isn't that they just "failed", but that the managment failed to see and accept their current problems. If Cingular stays with their current CEO, I wouldn't be surprised to see an improvement in Cingular within the next few years. You can't fix problems you're not willing to acknowledge they exist.

Actually, if all CEOs got down to basics and admitted their companies' faults, this country would be far better off.
