i just moved to riverdale and the signal in and around my appartment building (in the appartmanet and on the local street) is around 0 to 2 bars. i called verizon cs and they said i had a tower .5 miles from my address.

this is in bronx (riverdale) ny and in a heavily populated area. can a high population lower the signal strength is to many users are accessing the tower?

thanks

people accessing the tower will make a difference to reception. at least that's what i was told in training. also line of sight. if you are surrounded by larger buildings and it blocks your LOS to the tower, that's more likely the problem.

that or your apartment itself might be causing trouble. Concrete and steel usually have a wonderful way of not mixing with signals from cell towers, or anything else for that matter.
