Get 6256i from Ebay, what do you guys think?

It's around $300 for brand-new, unlocked 6256i with no contract attached. I'm just not sure if VZW would give you some headache in activating the phone you bought from Ebay.

The reason that I am considering Ebay is that I don't see them in local stores yet, and I don't know about the price even when they become available. The online deals, like inphonic, are for new customers only I believe.

Verizon will activate any phone that is compliant with their network, no matter where you got it, the only thing is that they won't activate a 6256i until it is officially released.

Not true. I activated my 6256i on Hallowe'en, and it has given me stellar service 100% of the time. I activated mine on line as well, and dodged the ESN charge.

IF the phone on eBay IS the Verizon version, I would be confident that it would activate. Just charge it up, go to the Verizon site and plug in the ESN, wait for the OTA signal to hit the phone, and go to town on that bad boy! I can't believe how much I like this phone!!!

How do you activate the phone online. My sister likes to break her phone a lot and we keep on having to cycle through relatives old phone. I'm getting tired of paying the new $15 charge.

😲 VZW charges to do a simple ESN change? Hummm...I suppose all of us indirects that would offer services like that for a customer WITHOUT charging...well, we are still the blacksheep of the cell phone industry. No matter how much more we offer our customers without nickle and diming them. We can't offer the NE2? Oh well, we can give a couple accessories...free phonebook transfers...and be there down the road for simple ESN changes that VZW would charge you for...

Ebay? Don' bother. I got mine Sunday evening from Best Buy here in California. Gunny got his too. An' its only 249 retail there, plus they give you a $30 coupon towards some BT headsets an' such. Heck, if you willin to sign a 2 yr, its only 149.

Be patient. One o' the Best Buys I talked to said the phones were 'in transit' to their locale an' it would take another 2 to 3 days. Your local BBs might be unsmooth like 'dat.

I got mine from best buy for $249.99.... The phone features are great. However, the build wasn't good, it felt like the cheap plastic used to make plastic plates and forks with, and I couldn't make out that well at all what the person on the other line was saying to me with the speakerphone on, even with the phone right on my lap. So it's going back today, it's such a shame but those two things for me make paying that much money a waste for me. Hopefully everyone else will like it.

Yeah, I agree that the exterior of the phone feels pretty cheap an' plasticky. But, the hinge on mine was smooth an' solid, with very little play. Exactly the opposite o' some of the hinge horror stories I'd read 'bout the 6255i, its close cousin. The keypad also feels very nice an' well made.

The speakerphone ain' all that, I agree there too. If you turn it up over half volume, it distorts an' sounds like chit. At half volume or less though, it sounds a'ight. Not great, but acceptable.

What sold me on the phone is the reception, the features, an' the call quality through the REGULAR speaker. I've never heard a cellphone sound this good, so its lookin' like a keeper. Still got 14 days to decide. 😎

I think its made very strong, all cell phones seem plastic to me. I probably think its so well built because I just came from owning the e815, that thing was cheap feeling. But still performed well. Hope you fin...
