a dumb question about my previous phone

I just got a Nokia 6256i, which replaced my old Nokia 3589i -- an upgrade deal. Now that the old phone was deactivated, should it be considered "unlocked" and ready to be activated for any other Verizon account? I am thinking of Ebay, but I want to make sure it'll be usable for other people. Thanks.

As long as it meets the E911 service, there should be no problem with you selling it to someone else. Just make sure when you sell the phone to make sure that it's for Verizon Wireless, and if a customer requests the ESN number, please have that on hand. Since you upgraded, the old phone can easily used for someone elses's Verizon Wireless account. My old Motorola 120c phone is only good as a paperweight now. That phone doesn't meet the E911 service, and therefore, I can't sell that phone to someone else, except to someone who just likes to collect phones. BTW; where did you get your Nokia 6256i phone at? That phone isn't being sold at any Verizon Wireless store (both corporate stores and kiosks in Southlake Mall and at Circuit City), ...

It's my understanding that some Radio Shack stores may be carrying the phone. I have checked with several RS locations in the DC area, and I was told they didn't have it, as that chain is going to stop being a Verizon agent as of January 1 and partnering with Cingular. Specifically, it was said that they might get in some new models, but they didn't want to invest in inventory they might be stuck with. Personally, I think that's very short-sighted in the short term, in my humble opinion. If the RAZR and/or the Nokia 6256i gets into the stores, even on a limited basis, it could very well make the difference for a lot of stores to make their nut. Then again, it's Radio Shack. What can I tell you? They're dumping Verizon for Cingular! K...

Exactly the same thing told by my local RS employees a week ago, but you know what, one week later, they still got the 6256i. There are numerous other stories that what the employees are telling people basically have nothing to do with the reality. To check the availability in a RS store, ...

Well, my BB is too stupid to do 1-year upgrade, either 2-year or no contract. I'm happy with $150 for 1-year contract via RS, since I'm going to use VZW and this phone for at least one more year, anyway. Plus, my BB is also too stupid to have the phone in stock yet.

On Thursday I called my local RS in Dale City, VA and was told the Nokia could be ordered for $300 😲 The lady I spoke with did not try and sell or offer any other prices for 1 or 2 year agreements. Not surprised since RS will be out of the picture soon anyway.
Anybody notice the online sales are making deals? Probably trying to move current stock for Nokia and RAZR in the stores.
