9800, the new blackberry, or motorola q
which should I get and why?
...
get the 9800....lg is much more reliable...moto is arite they have gotten better...i wouldnt go back to moto.....you really cant compare the bberry to the 9800......theyre both completely different phone.....i just purchased a 9800 twodays ago...still in the mail.....ill get it sometime this week....cant wait.
...
Aren't both the bberry and the 9800 pda/smart phone? How are they completely different? As for VCast and the camera, i could care less about those features... Thanks for the help.
...
9800 has a Qwerty keyboard, but it is not a pda/smart phone.
...
So than what do you get for all that $$$?
...
My understanding that the extra $$ is to have the Qwerty keyboard....
I'm debating on getting a 9800 but i don't do a ton of text messaging. Does anyone know how good it is for email if i'm using one of the generic services? (gmail, yahoo, etc.)
...
Just as good as any other phone with mobile web. You can do wireless sync, though, but with Yahoo and others like that, you have your messages immediately anyway.
...
But it doesn't have the push e-mail in (or whatever that technology is called) that bberry and some others have?
...
Honestly i'm not sure, maybe someone who already has this and is using it can help us out?!?!
I had read that it had no email service like you were saying, but i just read a user review on Cnet saying that it did.
I think you'll find the only email you can use on it is web browsing to your Yahoo (or similar) mail.
...
Oh. That's good to know. Bberry it is.
...
Spartan don't quote me, as i said i believe i've seen 2 different reviews, one saying you could subscribe to Verizon's email service ($19.99 a mo.) and one saying the only email was via internet browsing.
As i said b4 you may want to hunt down someone who has the 9800 and ask them, or talk to a vzw rep and ask.
I'm in the market for a phone, and i'm debating the 9800, so i'm info searching the same as you!

You get the qwerty keyboard and a bigger screen than any similar sized non-pda phone. That's the main thing.
Best Buy has it for $199 this week, with activation, no rebate, which is a really good price. So it looks like the price is dropping.
...
Thanks. Can you answer the e-mail question?
...
I was thinking of getting it, but if it the cost is all attributed to the qwerty keyboard, which I hear is not as good as the bberry's qwerty keyboard, why bother spending the money? Except for the fact that all of the blackberry's could be shut off momentarily (I wonder what kind of assurances VW gives customers who are buying new bberries)
...
What do you mean they could be shut off momentarily?
