Read the fine print. It says "free roaming near major cities". Meaning you can still get charged for roaming on this plan.

Click on the map, and it'll say 59 cents a minute roaming, plus 40 cents a minute long distance charges while roaming. So, almost a buck a minute if you roam.

Verizon's America's Choice? No roaming charges unless you go to another country.

There is an Alltel plan with no roaming charges period, but its like 350 peak minutes, 1000 night, 1000 wkend for $49.99. Not that great a deal.

No bigs. If someone waves a great plan in my face, I do check to see if its 'all that'. This one ain't, 'cus of the big roaming hammer you can potentially get hit with.

But Alltel's plan might be good if you stick to major cities. I guess its like their 'T-Mobile fighter' plan. 🙂

Good plan, especially like the free local incoming. But agin, read the fine print:

Roaming charges, fees, surcharges, overage charges, and taxes apply.

Also, the free incoming is only locally, not nationwide and no M2M. Not that M2M would be that great anyway.. What do they have 12M subs?

At least in the Chicago market, USCC plans don't always include M2M, but might include night & weekend minutes. I don't know how the M2M & night & weekend minutes apply on nationwide plans, but on regional plans, you must be on the network in your region to use M2M & night & weekend minutes. On Local, you must on the network to avoid roaming charges. Problem with parts of Indiana is that they bought the old Primeco service that Verizon divested after they bought Ameritech Cellular, and USCC has yet to build towers in parts of South Lake & Porter Counties. While the map shows they serve the area, parts of Crown Point, Cedar Lake & Lowell show roaming on the phone. This is based on what people told me who have USCC. I know few people on ...

Well last time I checked Alltel is using Verizon towers in those areas so if you would get charged roaming I would be willing to bet a verizon custoemr would not even have a signal so you do the math. Hey maybe you should try out a network before bashing it. NE-ways the original poster has been trying to bash alltel the same way on the alltel site. I sense a troll trying to stir up a fight on both forums so keep feeding him people.
