Question About Phones

I run my business off my cell phone through Verizon.....I've been their customer for 10 years now. I have gone through many phones....and now I have the V265 (not too crazy about it). I am now due for an upgrade, so I go to the Verizon store and they show me all these awsome phones...video, games, cameras, mp3 players...and so on. I am a gadget junkie, I have a laptop, digital camera, 5g Ipod, tivo, and play station. I am not in the market for anymore toys. What I really want is a phone with the best reception out there.......No one in that store could tell me which phone had the best reception.....only the cool ad ons they offered, which I don't need, want, or care about (and would never pay extra for). Why do I have to pay to be able ...

I own a Nokia 6256, an' it has very good reception. But I'm told that the Motorola e815 is the current 'reception champ'.

The Nokia 6256i and the Motorola e815 are the two best choices. They are both outstanding in the reception department.

Also,
If you do end up with one that has VCAST (for videos, etc.) and MP3 player (which the Motorola E815 has), you won't get charged to use VCAST if you don't use it and playing MP3's are free, but you don't have to use the player if you don't want to.

Thanks for the quick responses.....I know I won't be charged for the vcast and all that...it's just that I was amazed that they couldn't tell me which phone had the best reception.

By the way....how does the razr measure up on reception?....I know it's coming out soon.

The folks with the engineering models have been saying for months that the reception is on par with the e815. I also read a current review from someone that bought one off eBay praising the RF. The phone will be for sale online Dec 7 in stores Dec 12.
Hope this helps 🙂

It does.....thanks for all the help. I think I am leaning towards the Nokia 6256i, I have always had Motorola but I have noticed that they don't work as well after a few months (my wife says the same so it can't only be me) Radio Shack has the Nokia 6256i for $59. Can't beat that.

I am not surprised that you dislike the Motorola V265. That was, in my opinion, a poorly designed phone. The Nokia seems to be getting a good deal of positive attention. I would say that is a safe bet. Even though I am not a Nokia advocate. Verizon Wireless does not want Retail Sales Representatives telling people one phone has better reception than another, it is a conflict of interest and there are many other variables involved with a phones individual performance besides here say and opinions. The FCC regulates the amount a power a phone can transmit to six tenths of a watt, to prevent, as they say, any sort of adverse health effects that may result from having a radio transceiver placed against your cranium. So, on paper, if a phone is p...

Thanks for the input.....I have gone through about 7 phones in the last 10 years and I have to say, the v265 is the worst of the bunch....the first analog motorola I had worked better.
