What are some good reasons to convince VZW to allow an early NE2?

No such thing. Verizon is open to class action lawsuits if this is allowed.

I've turned down every reason known with the blessing of the company. I've personally encountered the, "well my friend got the date changed," situation. I checked the account and sure enough, someone did it and I filed a rework form for them.

Even if someone put the order through with a $100 discount, it would likely get audited in a month or so and you'd get a call letting you know there will be an extra ammount on your next bill for the phone order. Just because a rep or sup tells you it's ok, doesn't make it so. A cop can't tell you it's ok to speed or shoot someone and it's suddenly ok. Whether you know the law or not, you still broke it.

actually if a cop is doind traffic patrol or something of that nature you listen to the officers directives FIRST before any stop lights signs etc. But i do understand your point.

I actually was in a high-speed chase in Mpls (drunken driver while I was working for a security patrol company...long story). Anywho, I had the police on the line when the DD decided to run for it. He ran lights, sped, etc. Everytime he did, I mentioned it and the police on the line actually authorized me to continue pursuit (turns out he was on parole). I found out the only thing you can't really do is drive the wrong way on a one way. But, I agree, the point is still valid.

My Dad lost his phone (his line is on my account) and I had to replace it this past week. They said he was not available for an upgrade until February, but would let me do it now, so I did. I've done early upgrade before on other lines too, with no problems.

That's not the same as New Every Two though. Upgrades are a policy, policies can be circumvented. NE2 is a promotion, promos cannot be circumvented.

I don't get that. Isn't NE2 an upgrade? It specifically states "upgrade to a new.........every 2 years".

There are conditions to be met to qualify for NE2. That makes it a promotion. Same as a rebate.

While there is no circumstance I know of where someone can/should/would be given NE2 early (even by a day) if you're at least 1yr into a 2yr contract on your phone, and you're on a $59.99 a month or higher price plan (must be the Primary if on a Family Share) you can get an Early Upgrade at 2yr promotional pricing with a new 2yr agreement.

With as many "courtesy" exceptions 🙄 that we do (waaaaaay too many, personally I think its ridiculous! simply b/c customers decide not to manage or maintain their own usage, kids, payments, etc. Its always someone else's fault, not your own, no personal responsibility at all!) anywho.....NE2 is one that there is no boo-hoo poor me story or reason for, you will not get it, and at least that is one matter that has consistency across the areas! Its "new every two", period! Esp. considering a two month allowance is already applied, 22+ months and you can use it. More than welcome to try, but trust me, we've heard them all!

Ok so what is the deal when it comes to when you have the NE2, but for how long? Does it run out?

NE2 usually does expire after 6 months if you don't redeem it. But as mentioned before, there are exceptions to every rule. There are situations where you would be allowed to do NE2 early, it goes on a case by case basis. Some sups will approve it, some will not. If you are a year away from NE2, forget it. But if it is within a reasonable time period, an exception can be made, depending on the situation. We normally look at your payment history (first!), length of time you have been a customer, contract end date, how long until your NE2 date and review your acct to see if you are a repeat caller who calls in all the time to request credits. So, yes, some supervisors WILL let you do NE2 early, some will not. Luck of the draw. A previous poste...

I have given NE2 early on two occasions. Both times were when the guy was being shipped to Iraq and his wife needed a new reliable phone for him to call her. I feel this was in the best interest of the company and the customer.

REALLY? You should see some of the things I do in the name of customer service. You'd be shocked. I believe in good customer service. I can only control my little part of the world not the entire VZW universe. But I try to do my part. Does it really hurt anyone to honor a NE2 a couple of days early? NO! I will only do it if the situation is a genuine reason. NOT just because they want a cool new phone a couple of weeks or months early. Have a nice day, thank you come again!

How is it good customer service to give someone their NE2 a few days early? Because if you deny 100 and give it to one, when those 100 find out they will be p issed. You just alienated 100 customers to save one.

ACSS enhancements in regards to upgrades should eliminate the possibility of an idiot CSR from giving NE2 early. If they try to, the order will pend to their Sup, and it would be denied.

do you know anything about our sti?
do you know what redlining is?
do you know if you do an early ne2, and that customers neighbor calls up after finding out his neighbor just got an early ne2, and someone else denies it (as they should), we could get sued?

so when you ask does it really hurt anyone to do a ne2 early, the answer is yes.

trust me, in my 6 years experience working at vzw, no matter how many times someone tries to explain something to a customer, such as "the charges are valid, but ill give you a good will credit", or "you dont qualify for an upgrade, but you been a long time, good paying customer so ill do it early", all the customer hears is vzw made a mistake somewhere, so thats why we are giving them credits/upgrades.

i dont work in c/s, but i deal with all the customer complaints created by c/s. and trust me, when you think you have solved problem by giving them a "good will" credit or whatever you think will make the customer happy and get them off the phone, i just end up hearing about it later from the customer, because IT DOESNT WORK!!!.

Not in the Midwest either. But they are cracking down on early upgrade exceptions lately. It is easier to get an early upgrade exception than an NE2 exception. The original post asked what are some good reasons to convince us (VZW) to do it early, the answer is . . . you (the customer) cannot convince us to allow an exception, as this poster stated, it is based on your account history and several factors are weighed in making the decision, it doesn't matter what you say.

I got a pamphlet the other day from Verizon stating that i'm eligible to take advantage of the New Every Two program. This took me by surprise because my last NE2 was in July of '04. I'm still more than seven months away, so I don't exactly understand how i'm eligible for it at this time.

Wasn't really planning on upgrading my phone till then, but hey, since I can, maybe i'll do it soon.

Just because you got a flyer doesn't qualify you for the promotion unfortunately. Sometimes the dates in the computer are wrong and you'll get a flyer about a discount or promotion you can't get. It sucks for you and the CSR that has to break it to you. It's not fun when people get that stuff

Yeah. Read the fine print on the flyer. It's the same as calling in to buy one phone and people expecting to just get a free spare phone.

That is different. According to the way I read the first post, they were received an offer on a NE2 specifically on their line with a NE2 promotion. The BOGO is legit...if the person is buying two phones. The offer they received isn't legit at all, unless VZW makes it right and honors this.

I have seen customers get early upgrade offers so that VZW can save that NE2 extra 100 bucks off. And they make it available only through direct fullfillment so that they dont have to pay anyone for that sale.

So in other words I can make an ad and say I can sell that car to someone for 9000. But in the fine print I can put that the person must have a credit rating of 800 + and be able to put 4000 cash down and finance the rest at 72 months at 25 percent APR...and it would be acceptable?

If VZW sends an advertisment, they should back it up no matter the cost. I had a sales person here the other day that quoted the wrong price on a phone. At the price they quoted, we were going to only make 10 bucks. But I honored the price. Why? Because even a small loss would be better then an irate customer...

okay

i just talked to a CSR, because im havving trouble with my phone, i have a 2 year contract and im about a year and a month into it. i need to get a new make and model because my phone is going completely insane and it is my 3rd of the same kind and i have ahd the same problem with all three, but that's besides the point. i asked i could get a new phone w/o discontinuing service and re-signing up ( to avoid paying retail, but when i finally did the math it cost about the same) and she told me i could as long as i resign a new 2year, there would be a $20 charge plus however much the new phone cost. i dont think you're allowed to use you new on every 2 disount though 😕 but you could do what im doing.
good luck!

i hope this hel...
