Early termination fee
So I canceled my service and went to another company.
THere was a problem with my termination date that was to be resolved(mistake on Verizon's part) they said it expired on APril 06 etc.
So I call to ask if I can cancel after Nove 12,05 (my original exp date) b/c cust rep says yes, no problem I won't be charged early term fee.
So I am charged the fee of course $175.00.
I call to ask why that I had called before and every single rep told me they all knew my contract was up in Nov 12,05 and it had been a mistake on their part.
Guess what now they say my contract expired Nov 12, 06!!!
Is there any court papers I can file against this issue? WHy are they suddenly making up another date? Most likely I will have to end up paying ...

my suggestion is to call customer service and talk to a supervisor. calmly explain that the only reason you cancelled now was because on a number of occasions you called and stopped in stores and they all told you that the contract was up on nov 12th of 05. explain to the sup that you were told this and that there would be no etf if done after that date. if they still refuse to help you, ask for someone higher than that. someone should be able to get that cleared up for you. i've seen etf's waived for people still in contract, so you shouldn't have any problem

Just keep trying is all you can do. Everytime they say you won't be charged you normally are. That is an automated system that does it. When they close the account if the date says you're not up you'll get billed. Normally you can get it worked out and credited back. Try going to a store or an agent location and tell them what happened. Maybe they can call their numbers and get it resolved if that's truly the case.

1st off all do you have your original contract? If you do then it will list your terms...ie start date and end contract date. Next, did you make any price plan changes within your contract term? If you did, this would have reset your end contract date. If you did not redo your plan and you have your original contract then I would contact VZW and talk to a supervisor to get this error corrected.

Perfect.
If the original contract states the end date is not until a later date, you (the customer) are responsible for knowing that date no matter what any rep[s] tells you. If I call the bank and someone tells me my car loan is paid off that doesn't make it so.
