Consumer Reports and future of the #1 spot
Once VZW takes the top spot though, I don't think there will be many ads about it until at least the next quarter when the numbers come out again. It would be foolish to come out with "We're #1 again!" Only to possibly lose it the next quarter and look like fools. Establish the #1 spot, prove it's for a reason, then advertise it. I doubt it will be a big thing outside of the company or on message boards though.
Who have you been telling?
And do you think customers really care?
My sales didn't go up once Cingular was number one nor will they go down if and when someone overtakes them.
But I'm sure once Verizon does re-take #1, the reaction among Cingular diehards will be "It doesn't really matter" even tho' inside they're grittin' their teeth (an' even tho' some o' those same guys bragged on Cing being #1). An' that's completely ok.. more motivation for Cing to improve.
I can't wait until it becomes a constant battle between Cingular and Verizon for the number one spot. I foresee it happening in the near future. An unclear leader will drive the innovation and improvements through the roof.
If peeps thought the competition was intense now, they ain't seen nuthin' yet. ๐
I am also wondering how does consumer reports research their findings because is seems the same year after year.

In part, here's what CR wrote:
"Our largest-ever survey of cell-phone users found the reader score for cell carriers essentially unchanged from last yearโs survey, at 67. That ranks cell carriers below services such as hotels, supermarkets, digital cable TV, and even HMOs in terms of how well they please the consumer. Only 47 percent of our respondents told us that they were either completely or very satisfied with their cell-phone service, a low showing for any type of service in the U.S.
Perhaps not surprisingly, then, 31 percent of our respondents said they were seriously considering changing t...

Does Consumer Reports ever disclose what 18 metro areas they survey? That would be a very interesting thing to know.
It's all over the article, Ruff. There is broken down rankings and everything. Pittsburgh wasn't involved.

I'm not a fan of Consumer Reports, so I wasn't sure if they always have. I guess what I would be more interested in knowing is whether or not they survey the same metro areas year after year. I think it would be a little more fair if they actually did. Once again, I wouldn't know because I haven't seen their annual wireless surveys in past years.
So my new question is:
Does Consumer Reports survey the same 16 ...

Every year the surveys yield the same results of VZW being the highest ranked national carrier in every city surveyed. Even expanding the number of cities has not allowed another tier one carrier to soley take over a top spot.

Here is the deal Ruff the first survey 4 years ago included 5 cities. The second year they took the same 5 five cities and added more to the survey so it was a toal of 12. Then last year they took those 12 and added 4 to maek it 16, now this year it is the previous 16 plus 2 for the total of 18. (I also thought it was 18 cities last year, but I assumed you were correct in your stating 16 last year, I am to lazy to go and dig out last years issue.)

I am not supprised that Verizon is number one but I cannot understand about the Chicago market. It works OK here but in my opinion Sprint works a lot better. I know people have a bad taste in their mouth about sprint but they really do work better than Verizon in Chicago. Less dropped calls and also better service indoors such as houses and buildings.
I am also wondering how does consumer reports research their findings because is seems the same year after year.
LOL copy and paste; maybe?
