My contract expired and the 6256i is free...or is it?

My 2 year verizon contract has been up for a while and they've been bugging me to reup.
I've been waiting for a phone I like and see that the 6256i is available for free online with a 2 year contract.
Is that only for a new service?

I plan to ask the seller, but want to get informed here first by folks who've read plenty of fine print.

Like Woody Guthrie said, "Education is reading the fine print. Experience is what happens when you don't."

Have you registered your account online?
If so, log in and in the account you can choose an option to "upgrade your phone" then you will have the option to choose a phone and so forth, this will tell you the price when renewing your contract. You can choose between a one year and two year contract.Basically if you sign up for a year or two years again they will discount the phone like they did when you first signed up. But, prices vary from the net and instore. Prices may vary from store to store also. Hope this helps.

I think that he was referring to the fact that the phone is not available through VZW and is an indirect only phone. Also, very few, if any indirect locations will honor the NE2. I don't know if there are any users on here that have been able to find an indirect that will honor the NE2.

There aren't any that can ACTUALLY honor the deal VZW gives, but many will tell customers they are and deduct $100.00 off full retail. Anything for a buck, right?

On most phones if an indirect agent were to match the instore price on the NE2 they would literally lose money on the deal. If I sold an 8100 for 50 bucks and gave the customer a 50 dollar rebate I would lose aprox 20 dollars. So, I make it clear what I can do for them and why it is worth the extra to get the phone from me versus somebody sitting behind a phone or computer.

Once again, the directs that are trying to make the indirects look like they are shady.

I don't give false expectations as to phone pricing. I make phone pricing a non issue. My response, "If you look long and hard enough I am sure you can always pay less somewhere else. 1st, is it worth your time? 2nd, here is what I can do for you." I then build rapport with the customer and give them solid value of why they should buy from me. Most of the time they do...
