had a customer in my store today having problems with his Audiovox 8910 (doesn't everyone). He just upgraded his phone online. I am an indirect...I can't handle these returns. But here is where it gets really good. I had a few slow days last month so I looked up all the customers that I had sold 22 months ago. I looked to see if their numbers were eligible for upgrades. I typed up a letter that all I had to do was enter a couple pieces of information into the letter, print it, sign it, and then mail it. This was one of those customers. The dialog went something like this:

"Hey, I got your letter in the mail a week ago. Thanks, I thought I had to wait the 2 years before I could get a new phone."

Me...explained the upgrade proces...

When I was selling cars I had a guy that came onto the lot wanting me to show him a Toyota Highlander with the leather package and he wanted to test drive it. The reason? He had already ordered one from another dealer (our local competitor) and they didn't have one to test drive at the time. I told him to cancel the order from the other dealer and buy ours and I would be happy to take my time out to demonstrate this vehicle to him. He was unwilling to do that...so I told him to pound sand. He went in and told my sales manager that I refused to help him. The sales manager said...hummm...you refuse to do business with us, but want us to do what the other dealer is getting paid to do...POUND SAND.

I agree, I hate when people come in saying, yes I orederd my phone on line or I am going to sign up online but I wanted to come in and see what the phones looked like first. That is the one thing that probably pisses me off more then anything.

I also hate it when a customer buys a phone 5 miles away but comes into my store for a full tutorial on how to use it because "I am closer"

I would have just plain told that customer to leave. You have every right to do so. I had a customer do the same thing...tell someone to go to RadioShack. I told him to leave the store. He refused saying he had the right to be there and say whatever he wanted to say. I called the police...they told him something completely different...

That is a good question. I just found that my wife might need to move back to Gainesville sometime this year. If she does, I will need to leave this job and find one in that area (I love where I work...). I manage a small store, and am paid very well. I would need to move laterally in income. I hope there are jobs down there in this industry...

I take it that's monthly. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I will see. I average about 4k a month. But I am not in a pressured environment. At least in terms of production. If I ever go to Florida, I would either start my own store or make sure I like the working environment. I do not like high pressure and upper management that is bent on screaming and intimidation tactics to try to motivate. I also cannot stand upper management that has mouths like sailors. I had enough of that in the car industry. I got tired of it real quick. I learned, it isn't all about the money. I can make less but have an environment I am happy with and feel better about my employment.

Yes that is monthly... I would not say my company is high pressure. There is a lot of responsiblity involved in followup calls. prospecting calls. Handing out flyers to customers outside in front of store. Flyering parking lots, etc.
Not high pressure, but we are a sales organization and my people dont play on the computer or waite around with their hands in their pocket till a customer walks in.
I tell every applicant the same thing. This is a job from begining of your shift till the end. Not just when you have a customer. If you cant handle that go work at a corporate store.

I am a master agent and therefore make almost double the commission as a small agent. If you decide to open a store let me know and we can work something out that will pay you more than others get and I will get a little piece of the action.

Cool. I will let you know. I put in about 50 to 60 hours a week now. I take a break every 4 hours or so and check my e-mail and things on here and then it is back to work. I don't get paid to sit and do nothing. I get paid when the store is making money. If I am not selling, I am doing what I can to sell. Making up ads, sending follow-up letters, etc...I have the owner come in two days a week, and have a helper on Saturdays. But I spend most my extra time on making sure our pricing is current, ordering phones, making sure all accessories are ordered/labeled/checked in, following on co-op account...etc. That stuff keeps me pretty busy.
