anyone ver hear of it

my neighbor just ''overclocked'' his phone, and he does get better service in his house (he wouldnt get any service and now he gets an avarage 3-4 bars!), although it is a cingular gsm phone.

does anyone have any info on this for a verizon cdma phone? is it worth it? will it help?

thanks

I have updated my RAZR software to the latest flash version released by motorola, the .0DR series. I get 4-5 bars all across town with it. Modding is usually a GSM thing, and by overclocking I'm sure he meant he flashed the phone. Overclocking refers to increasing the speed of processors beyond the design specifications.

flashing involves bringing your phone in-store. it'll take about 30-45 depending on if there's any phones ahead of yours. the phones memory is wiped clean, and the current version of software is installed. phonebook, data (rings, pics, games) are normally not affected by this but with anything there's always a chance. best to do it, g et something to eat, then pick up handset afterwards.
