I have been enjoying this forum as a spectator for a few months and after consuming many of the posts both bad and good I've decided to jump into the fray! Not with a bashful toe poke but full on splash.
First for the consumers. It's just a phone give it a rest. Nothing and I mean nothing in this world is perfect. Including the cell service you may subscribe to. READ THE MANUAL PLEASE. READ YOUR CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SIGN. STOP WHINEING ABOUT THE BILL IT'S IN ENGLISH (MOST OF THE TIME). NOBODY GETS A FREE RIDE AND IF YOU CANT AFFORD IT DONT BUY IT! YOU DONT HAVE TO SPEND 300.00 ON A PHONE JUST TO MAKE CALLS. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS LIKE ANY OTHER ENDEAVOR SOME PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING SOME DONT BE YOUR OWN BEST RESOURCE (SEE ABOVE). IF ...

Nope, sorry. I disagree. I think Old Man had it right. Too many folks who are listing here seem to be whining a little too much. After all, these are things that we, the general public, have made a conscious choice to depend on because they are convenient. Cell phones, for the most part, have come a long way since the old analog bricks and bags, and that's good, but until the frequencies go higher for less interference, and things like leaves in the summer and natural barriers like mountains become a non-issue, progress will be slow. Cellular communication, for all intents and purposes, is in its infancy still. I hope that I will still be around in a few years to see the progress this fairly new technology has made. As far as the upp...

Forget the caps. 🙄 I was to far along to go back and change it. When you get a little older you'll learn that somethings aren't worth the time. I would asume that content would overide the quaint notion of all caps conveying tone. mea culpa. Now go back and actually read the post if it's not to much of a strain on your young eyes. Oh and I'm sure somebody in Europe right now does not have a signal or is cursing the fact that their display went out.

OK, Mr. 20-something...you were in diapers when this country was introducing cellular here. You are EXACTLY the person I'm talking about. The reason that we didn't start with a superior system like GSM is that we had a great landline system, unlike other parts of the world. They decided to start with digital, where we started with the old analog. Why not start here with GSM? We still had too many financial obligations to the old Ma Bell, and TDMA and CDMA didn't find their way into our mainstream until the mid-90's, I think. I remember when the first handheld digital-only phones were introduced on the old Bell Atlantic Mobile network. People avoided them like the plague. Why? Not enough digital towers and too many analog towers stil...

would that level or standardization ever really exist in the US? Everyone here feels entitled to a choice. McMeaties or TacoHell, Unleaded or Desiel, Less filling or Tastes Great. Though I would say, It would be nice to not have to MAKE choices like that. One regulated cellular tech standard. Gov't/City/State owned towers instead of being owned/maintined by independants or by the margerine (or is that managerie) of companies out there. No Hexxon, or TmobileOil, or even Diamond Clover, just one national price for gas, no texas/europe fat-cats looking for their share (just the arab kings/princes who own the bloody fields to begin with, nothing wrong in that) Hell, while we're at it, let's standardize electric/natural gas. these are all good id...

I third that! but it was quite a rant...I agree with some of your statements, I do think people can be a little hard on their cell companies. Cut em a little slack sometimes, as long they make ir right, you cant flip out if they make a small mistake once in a while.

You know, in the USA, wireless service is one of the few things where a contract must be signed locking you in to something you really can't change for two years w/o paying an exorbitant fee for cancelling. Paying the price you do for said service you would expect better customer service, better coverage, better this, better that... The above was for the customer...
In the USA, however, the land where nobody reads anything: contracts (T&C), owner's manuals, etc we deserve to be complaining about our high bills, overages (even when it's our fault), CS people not at our beck and call 24hrs/day... We did this as a market. We (as a people) are to blame for why wireless is what it is... You can't scream and cry about wanting this and wa...

i dont know why we even bother talking about this stuff anymore....its never gonna stop...never. i say we just dont' talk about it. lets use this forum for what it's meant to be, to help people find answers for real questions on phones and services...now i said real like how does this work or what phone should i go with if i need such and such. a real question does not include any of which are just trying to find a way to screw any company due to a persons cheapness. man that would be great to see happen.. but i'm no idiot, i know even my posting this is a wast of time so i'm gonna stop now

I remember when I could read this forum and learn something about phones, that was pretty cool.

I LOVE IT!!
Caps and all. Some people need to read big letters to understand. For those people who can't understand their bills without having it read to them, maybe their bills should come in big letters...
