I am due to upgrade phone and sign a new contract. I was wondering if it matters whether you go to Best Buy or Circuit City or go to a Verizon Store. They all seem to have different deals on phones just wondering what the difference would be.
Thanks

Circuit city is the same as going to a verizon store, the Kiosk is staffed by verizon employees. Best Buy has probably the consistently worst customer service that I personally have ever experienced. I think Best Buy might be a little cheaper on some phones and they carry a few phones that the Verizon store won't have.
...
So if I use either of those stores and have problems with the phone I could still deal with a Verizon store or call customer service?
...
why not deal with the store you bought it from. I am not a verizon employee, but, it drives me crazy that people want to buy the phone somewhere else and if there are problems with it, they want to go to a verizon corporate store or call in. If the place you want to buy it is al that great, then there should be no problem having them take care of you in the future. I do not like the place in my town that does verizon, so I go somewhere else. I just think it is bs that people want to save a buck and buy the phone somewhere else, but, they do not want to deal with that place after the sale. I think verizon should make the people deal with where they got the phone. Sometimes that is why it is better to pay a little more now so you have so...

Technically if there is a defect on the phone then Verizon customer service has to deal with it. However, I always deal with either a Verizon store or Circuit City, which is why I didn't actually get the phone I originally wanted. Basically this is the same as buying a car 2 towns over and getting the local dealer to work on it, they have to service you according to the comapny directive, but you usually get better service if you go back to the same people that made money off of the sale.

Problem is that BB, RS, or CC are retailers and Verizon is the service provider, so really when you buy the phone (wherever that may be) Verizon is still accountable for the customer in terms of service. Problems with the actual phones can be addressed by either Verizon or the place you bought the phone. I'm an agent for Verizon and while it can be annoying at times to deal with a customer who bought their phone somewhere else, I do try to help them as best I can. I don't however take any sh*t from them if they are having troubles, since I'm not getting paid for just helping them. I make money when I sell phones and if someone comes in with a phone I sold them, they have my full attention. If you didn't buy from me, then you better be r...

wow, that echo sounded just like you

Looks like we agree at the same time. 🤣

I am asking because the bottom line is that I am signing a contract with Verizon regardless of where I am buying the phone. The comparison of buying something at Kmart and the wanting Walmart to fix it is not really true. It is not uncommon for someone to buy a car at one car dealer because they gave them the best deal yet have the car serviced at another car dealer.
...
you are correct on comparing wal-mart and kmart are not exact comparison here, my mistake there. But, if you buy a phone and in the 15 days you want to try a different phone, I feel you should deal with where you bought it, not expect verizon to fix it.
...
my point was, there are certain services that verizon employees are required to provide to customers on site at a verizon store, some of these services cannot be performed at "authorized dealers". Other services can be provided on site, but thais at the discression of the person you are dealing with, they can always tell you "you need to call corporate and get this handled". This is completely acceptable. You will generally get better service if you buy the phone from the same location that you expect to go to if you have an issue that needs to be resolved.
...
Ditto! Just didn't want to echo again. 😁

However, this isn't always possible. As already mentioned, the CC location is still a corporate store, the staff of the kiosk are NOT CC employess, they're VZW employees. You can purchase the phone there, but because of the nature of the location it is not a service center, you need to go elsewhere for repairs or warranty service.
I had an exception to the warranty service though. I bought an E815 at a CC location, by the time I got out to my vehicle I found that one of the buttons didn't work. I went right back in and he was able to swap the phone for me.

I'd recommend going through the corporate store, mall kiosk, or the kiosk inside Circuit City stores. You will pay more, but at least Verizon Wireless will always be around if there's a problem. Authorized agents vary in service. Some are reputable, and others are shady, like Radio Shack & Best Buy. All the VZW authorized agents in my area are shady. The one I would have recommended has since closed their doors. This one helped me get another phone after losing my first phone and get it insured, while Radio Shack stores in my area don't allow phones to be insured. That way if you lose your phone, they expect you to pay more than retail for the phone (yes my local RS stores charge higher than SMRP), and still won't insure the phone. S...

Aaahhh, but the dealer's service department gets paid to do service work. An authorized agent does not.
...
I wholeheartedly agree. Another posted said something about purchasing your car at one dealer and having it serviced at another. That is true because the service departments get paid for their work regardless of where the phone was purchased. Now, lets give this a real illustration. Let's say you purchase a car at ABC Motors and have a question about basic operation of things like the radio. You go to CBA Motors and ask a salesman. You know what he will tell you? Ask to the salesman that sold you the car. They got paid for this service.
I worked for a dealer in WV that was a high volume and low service. My customers would even tell me that they won't use our service department because it sucks and the dealer down the road is a ...

Thanks. This is an issue that is one of my pet peeves. I know I pay more in some stores then I would with other stores. But I also know which help me out, which are local businesses, and which have done business with me.
It is a fine line to walk with people that bought their phones elsewhere. If I refuse to help them, I am assured to never get any business from them. If I help them, I might...or I might not, but at least I have a chance of future business. If I go out of my way and help someone (as in my example of the local businessman) and they still go elsewhere...I will refuse to help them. There are some people that show they care zero about where they buy their product. These won't send referrals. They might not even buy f...

I guess I didnt realize that the cellphone companies are so commission oriented.
Is the same true if with the customer service people over the phone. If I go through them to get a phone??
Who get the commission if you order online?

I feel you, that drives me absolutely nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! happens daily, your post is dead on. Anything to save a buck. Try to go out of the way to help and service people and then they stab you in the back and pick up a phone at bestbuy they saw in an ad. Of course they come in and say" we like coming in here more, you are nicer and always help us out" but they bought their phone elsewhere to save a buck
