Why not focus on expanding the CDMA200 network and worry about EV-DO later

I know Verizon has the largest voice area due to roaming agreements, but there are still states where it is primarily "Extended Network" (and even Analog why not focus on making the WHOLE network "All-Digital"?)

so why not focus on expanding their voice(CDMA200 with BREW) and then when thats finished, upgrade the Ev-Do network? Or even when they put up new towers make it EV-DO capable. It just seems to me that people are too worried about the features that come with the phones, i mean come one they're phones, and what do normal phones do? Make and recieve calls. Don't get me wrong i love to use Get It Now! but calls are more important to me than extra's. I know in our constantly growing economy peole have the midset that they NEED the ne...

There's no money in those smaller markets! Tho I'm sure it's their goal to expand their own network tho. They just need to buy Allel or USCC! 🙂

that would be great but like i said in the "Verizon and Sprint" thread
" Now don't quote me on this but, i remember a couple months ago in one of these carrier formums i read that after the Sprint/Nextel merger the FCC wouldn't allow another merger for national carriers for a certain amount of years." didnt feel liek retyping it 😛. would Alltel be considered a Nationl Carrier or Regional?b/c they have service in a couple of states

Alltel is a regional carrier.

First of all, Get it Now! runs perfectly fine on the CDMA 2000 1X standard - it's original native "network". Second of all, its not CDMA 200. Thirdly, your post is full of contradictions.

Because the patent will soon run out on Qualcoms original CDMA technology - Declassified in 1976 or somesuch.

Then anyone with 20 bux will be able to buy the specs and make CDMA phones. Imagine a flood of Cheap phones produces in the Taiwain R.O.C. phones for 20 bux or less. Disposable like?

EVDO sells new expensive phones and new contracts.
This is why 1000s of people are buying them in scores. Phones are no longer phones they are a statement.

Not even Nokia is keeping it real anymore.
Forget Verizon. (I'm still baffled as to why they cannot deliver FULL CID/CLID on incoming international calls though....)

Luckily Nokia is putting out what they call their "Development platform" which is extendable and upgradable. All VZW e...

They are metal! Non plastic!
Buttons Never Stick(full metal with water protection up-to 100 meters), Screen Never Scratches (Crystal). Like a watch.

You can have one forever and never ever need another one.

Well i for one never plan on making cell phone calls from my bathtub or from the bottom of the swimming pool, let along anywhere over 300 feet underwater 🙂

I dont mind plastic phones. Every phone I have ever owned has been plastic and I have yet to break one.

I've had the same though before, but metal is always better. I've learned that with Cameras.

A wireless (Like a Nokia 3xxx) can break just by being in the front pocket of you jeans while you sit down. If you're bagging a Laptop + Papers + CD's + Wireless Phone and running with it to some appointment in NYC Metro the two can demolish eachother.

Screens on flips will mess up just because they touch skin and then oil deposits form on them from handling, when you try to clean them you will inevitably make them fade and scratch.

(Even if you use lens tissue or this lenscrafters kits they sell.)

Forget about bathtub, Just a cup of coffee can mess up equipment that is on top of your desk.
You may not even be the one to spill it.

Well I guess i just always try to be careful about where my phone is.

Most of the phones I have had have been flip phones since the first motorola flip.

Besides i kinda like my plain old LG VX8100 and my Samsung P207 🙂
