Circuit City Now Verizon-Exclusive?

I know I'm behind da times 'cus I haven't been in a CC for awhile, but is it true that the ONLY cell phone stuff they carry now is Verizon, fo' all stores?

I seems to remember them carryin' pretty much all the nationals an' Virgin Mobile besides, but now, jus' VZW, least in the store I was in. When did this happen?

Not that I'm complainin'.. the store-within-a-store I saw was pretty cherry, had all the phones, several reps, manageable lines. Probably easier than goin' through a standard VZW store.

ALL CC everywhere (as I understand it) have a verizon owned and operated kiosk. Those are real verizon reps in there. They even get phones the stores don't sometimes. 6256i comes to mind

This started off Sept 2004. Circuit city rents space to Verizon Wireless and they are under contract. Circuit does not sell sell phones anymore. Verizon Wireless sells their service and phone exclusivly.

Verizon Wireless is only in Circuit City stores that are in Verizon Wireless markets. I don't know what Circuit City has in their stores in non-Verizon Wireless markets. The Kalamazoo Michigan Circuit City initially didn't have a Verizon Wireless kiosk in that store because Verizon Wireless didn't serve that market. They do now that Cricket sold off their Michigan network and customer base to Verizon. If Circuit City doesn't have similar agreements with other carriers in non-Verizon markets, then I wonder if they're still an authorized agent, or those stores don't sell wireless service at all.

I was in a circuit city store being built in sept of 04. They had all of the equipment for a standard wireless department one day. And the next day i walked in and that whole section was empty. The next day there was a Verizon Kiosk. and that is all i have ever seen since.

Thanks Shock, I had a great holiday and hope you did too. I'm digin my razr; between form factor, and call clarity its a keeper for sure. I never did get my bluetooth to work and I read every thread on HoFo, it appears some just got lucky. I'm sure the haters are working overtime on this one, its worth buying 🙂

Good ta hear guns. By the by, how's the speakerphone on the RAZR?

I like the 6256, but its speakerphone onnit is only okay. If the RAZR had a killer speakerphone, I might lean dat way a lil' more.

The speaker phone is the best I have used. It is better then the lg6100. v710, e815, 6256i. Before I would never use the speaker phone when talking to friends because of poor quality, at most I would use it while on hold. I now use it and feel confident the party on the other end is not annoyed. The speaker phone matches the amazing call clarity. Its nice to have it on my work desk two feet away and not have to shout. I like it

That is part of VZW's new agenda... I've seen the same thing happen in BJ's stores in my area. They sh*t-canned the one reseller who sold TMo, Cingy, & one other and went with a VZW-exclusive kiosk with VZW employees...
