I'm wondering what a direct dealer makes on new accounts, upgrades/renewals and if anyone knows of any openings in the Metro Detroit area for full time or even part time jobs. I really want to get back into the wireless business and am looking to make some good cash...
I have about 4-5 years wireless experience under my belt. I also used to work for CompUSA and was one of their top sales people, so I have great sales skills.
Thanks for any notices in advanced.

I don't believe we can disclose specific pay information, although I'll give you a ballpark figure on what we make in sales. Successful sales reps (exceeding quota on average by 130%) usually make around $60k-$70k per year, while average sales reps make around $45k-$50k.. The pay is good, but alot is expected of you. And expect a fair amount of stress. 😉

Oh I remember the stress of working in wireless, and right now a lot of my friends who work for indirect and direct dealers deal with issues all the time (irate customers bugging them). I didn't think that VZW got as many irate customers, but I know they get some here and there.
Also, my main concern with pay was someone informed me that the pay is continuous (i.e. you get $X per contract per year, so if a customer you sign up stays on past the initial 2yr you set them up with, you get another $X for the 3rd, 4th, etc. year they keep service.
Anyrate, i don't care if that's true or not, but my main concern is my friend makes a LOT of money working for T-Mobile directly, and I would love to work for Verizon Wireless...

Bah, if i were to guess i'd say maybe 5% of the jobs are filled up from online applicants...
Everyone I know/knew that I worked with got in through referrals somehow.
I already submitted my application online to Cingular, Verizon, NexTel (I don't want to work for T-Mobile or Sprint).

Tmobile actually compensates their employees quite well, and the corporate culture is great. I've got a buddy that works at a call center as a lead.

The estimated 5% figure may only be based on the quality of those who apply online. With your qualifications, you would probably have the same odds of getting hired no matter where you go through. I would personally prefer to go in person, that way your face is associated with your resume. It also gives you a good opportunity to make a great first impression, and show your personality. Good luck! 🙂

Do youself a favor and look for a real job. Verizon Wireless treats their employees like ****. If you are after a dead-end job within a company that does not value their employees, then and only then, is Verizon Wireless the company you should seek as an employer.

a janitors job is always "crappy" my friend, you should have applied for a better position 🤣
...
I'll say. VZW treat all of us just fine. Benefits, anual raises, and best of all in this economy... 40+ hours a week...
Maybe Mr. Ex- is bitter because he wasn't the hard-working, loyal employee that VZW was looking for...
...
MR/MRS VZWCustServ, There is a BIG difference between a "good job" and a job you merely stay in because the economy is bad and cannot find anything better. Working for VZW maybe a good job for those who live in armpit USA where there maybe no large companies around for miles, for people like myself in a large metropolitan area it is NOT. Let me guess, you work at the South Carolina Call Center. Next time you get a chance to speak to people at the Morristown, NJ and/or the Orangeburg, NY call centers you may want to ask them how VZW has treated them. Last I heard the company was laying them all off and taking their jobs to North Carolina.
...
The company is not laying them off unless they want to be laid off. The company is offering them to move with their job or take a position in another department. So they have three options and two of them involve staying employed by VZW.

I don't mean to boast, but if you're saying that VZW isn't a good job or doesn't pay well.. 🙄 ... I live in the L.A. metropolitan area (and in an upper-class city) in my own apartment, I own a new Porsche and just bought a new Yamaha R6 street bike. Just turned 22. I can thank VZW for all that I have.
I don't know how customer service is,...

So basically you are saying you are making, lets see....$600 month for the Porche, maybe $240 a month for the bike....insurance 1200 a month 😛
and another $900 for the Apt...

This is why folks. Sales. I've been in sales before. It's stressful(too stressful for me), but if you want, you can make whatever amount of money you want just by working as hard as possible at it.
85percent, you have yourself to thank for all that money and success, Verizon just provided the opportunity and a nice commission structure.

True. The commission structure with VZW is by far more advanced than most other carriers however because the way it's set up gives us more incentive to sell while almost doubling company revenue at the same time.

Hmmm... well, I think Seattle counts as a major metropolitan area, and as a rep just starting to look at all of the different fields with Verizon I can branch out into, along with good pay, and of course, the reason I started working at Verizon: tuition reimbursement. I think I'll be here for quite sometime.

I did not work there as a janitor, Mr. Brown nose.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and make the assumption that you got fired. 🤣
VZW is the best company I've ever worked for- based on benefits, pay, and overall professionalism. Besides the fact that I honestly stand behind what I sell, 100%. 😉

You guessed wrong and you know what they say about people who ass-u-me. You must have worked for some pretty bad employers if VRZ is the best job you have ever had. The fact of the matter is that I walked out on VRZ because I could not take all their B.S. Good benefits you say, ex. When I worked there the company offered only 5 stingy paid sick days a year and if or when you exceeded this you ran into the possibility of getting fired on your 6,7, etc. incident. Has this changed, Mr/Mrs Getupandsmellthecoffe?

Yeah Verizon pretty much sucks. I am making more as a retail customer support rep (entry level position) than I was at my last job as a Food and Beverage Manager/ a staff of about 20 people under me. 5 sicks days, 7 personal days and 2 weeks vacation, better insurance plans than my wife has and she works for the govt., better 401k plan than her also. Not to mention the fact that I got a raise and a bonus this year. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I have only worked the company since November 2003. I also did not mention all of the training VZW has provided and the fact that they have been been ranked as one of the best companies to work for in regards to the training that they provide to their employees. And I can get 100% tuition rei...

They really do. 😁 last placed i worked, more than 4 years back I was making way less money and doing more, I was paying double for insurance without any dental 👿 , no 401k, no personal days, only 3 sick days a year, if you exceeded those no pay for those days, no raise for a while, no short term, no bonuses, no employee, now they did have 100% tuition reimbursement at one and when I left and started w/vzw they closed 4 months later. Lucky me, nothing is perfect but is way much better. 🤣
