Contract Question
My contract expires with Verizon in February... I have not decided if I am going to stay with them (or switch to Cingulair) or purchase a new phone from them and sign a new contract...
How long do i have to use the discounts on a new phone once they become eligible (I am not using NE2 because I was only on a 1yr contract, so I only get a discount/rebate)? Also, what happens if I do not cancel but i don't reactive my contract either? Will it automatically sign me up for a new year or just go month to month?
Thanks in advance.....

At the end of your contract you go month to month and you are eligible for a new phone at any time

Also if you only do a 1 year agreement at the end of the contract, you won't be eligible for NE2. NE2 requires a 2 year agreement, and 1 year agreements can get promotional pricing at 10 months, instead of 22 months since they dont qualify for the NE2.

Is there any reason at all to my advantage to sign a new contract or do I automatically stay on the same plan and rate on a month to month basis if I don't agree to a new contract? I'm hoping they either revise their data plans offered on their newer phones, or another carrier offers one, before I go on any contract again. At $15 or so extra a month, I'd buy it since I already pay $5 a month for their Mobile Office, but at ...

If you don't upgrade to a different phone or authorize anyone to change your contract it will continue on a month - to - month basis until you either terminate it or change it. However, if you do upgrade your phone you will be forced to sign a new contract and if your current price plan is no longer available you will be forced to change to a current one.

Thank You. I think that's what I will do, and then just wait and see if they change their data policy before going back on any contract.

Dear scottfromca:
My suggestion to you as you're indicating that you're becoming a month-to-month customer is to just "buy the phone for cash" and do a esn change on an existing plan you have for the extra $20.00 with Verizon CSR.
