Hi
Yes you can buy a pda/phone without data. Would I recomend it No all of our pdas are built to "sych" every 15 minutes roughly 96 minutes of airtime a day 2700 minutes a month. While their is a way to turb it off and disable it I'm not a tech and have been told its not easy. Their is a realativly cheap data plan at 24.99 on top of our voice plans. It allows for 10megs per month most treo/pda users I know sych for outlook or other email stuff. Its pretty neat if you can justify the cost.

Just to clarify

I don't recomend it because a high percentage of your customer end up useing it even though they swear they won't. When they get that 1000+ overage charge bill they theb expect us to rectify the situation and remove the charges even though they were told. If a customer decides not to take it we do notate the account that he/she was advised about the possible overages. But in the end its your plan and we are your service provider and if you don't want it we can remove the data feature. Just don't expect the Sales rep to know how to remove the sych ability I sure don't. With 20+ phones changeing every t months its hard to keep up.

I thought if they didn't get a data plan then the code to block data all together was added to their account?

Great. I was just told by tech support today that a customer can activate a Palm Treo 700w without a PDA plan and as long as they don't attempt to access the net on the phone, or wireless sync they won't be charged anything...

So in other words, I should expect to see that customer back in a month with their next bill...

From looking at emails and things in InfoCenter the other day it looks like they can either go with the per kilobite plan or put on a data block plan. Either should work for them.

Maybe you're right. I just looked all over InfoCenter and can't find anything. I don't know what I saw the other day. I'll look through my email.
