Verizon Interested in Vodafone's Shares in VZW
So what does all this mean? I think it would be interesting to see Vodafone buy out Verizon. And create Vodafone USA. It would make a nice change to the cell market here in the US.
...
It will be the reverse. Verizon will buy out Vodaphone. Look for Vodaphone then to reinvest in a US carrier on their own.

Vodafone is the largest cell phone company in the world, but because of an agreement they have with VZ, they can not enter the U.S. market directly under the Vodafone name. I use a Vodafone in Europe regularly, and it also works nearly everywhere else in the world as well. They want VZ to buy out there interest in VZ (they own a percentage of VZ now, which is why they have that agreement) and then they will look to either buy another carrier and put it under the Vodafone banner, or start from scratch if neccessary. They have the money even for that. The main reason that VZ does not want to buy that interest back, is because they fear Vodafone competition. Vodafone could really hurt them.
