instant messaging question
I want to switch to verizon. What do i need to send instant messages with msn messanger? vast or messaging? I plan to get the lg 9800 and the canada mexico plan. I will only message in the usa.

Vcast gives you unlimited airtime to mobile web, but has nothing to do with instant messages other then it lets you do it. If you dont wan't to be charged per instant message which counts as a text message, you would need to add a text package too. So in answer to your question, you actually need both unless you want to be charged .10 for anything sent or recieved which when you are instant messaging adds up. The Vcast feature gives you unlimited airtime while you are on Mobile Web, or Gin download which Msn messenger is, the txt plan covers any messages you send or receive. By the way, good choice on phones. Do you call Canada/Mexico alot? As the North America's Choice plans tends to run about 20.00 more and only have 1000 Night/weekend...

Do you know if i can use Airim, a program i downloaded off the net and used with my sprint phone. It's a icq, aol, and yahoo instant messaging program. Or does verizon block that program.

You will not be able to use that program as Sprint's phones support Java while Verizon's support BREW. Verizon supplies you a Mobile IM program that is free (at least it was with my 9800) and it allows you to use MSN Messenger, AIM, and Yahoo.
