Is their an incentive to Verizon dealers to push the 6700 over the Treo 700? I have been in 4 different Verizon stores and in each the salesman was pushing the Verizon 6700 over the Treo 700. i don't just mean pointing out the differences they were pushing hard for people not to take the 700 but to switch to the 700. has anyone else run across this?

The Treo has issues. People in general are expecting too much from the 700w. The 6700 doesn't have the "freeze" problem.
Two different animals.
The sales reps probably are tired of people coming back with complaints on the Treo 700w.
Or they are out of stock of the Treo and don't want to lose a sale.

I have a 6700 and have played with the 700W for a few minutes.

While always having access to the keyboard is kind of nice, it just means there are that many more buttons to push accidently. The buttons on the Treo's are just too small bottom line.

Authorized Dealers have their own prices and commision structures so I can't really speak on their part. They may very well make more on one phone than the other.

Verizon Wireless retail stores get paid by the plan and add-ons you choose (such as text messaging, unlimited data, etc excluding insurance) not the phone, so I think the motivation behind pushing the 6700 would be that they think it's less likely to be returned: i.e. that you will be happier with it than the Treo which means they consider it to be a better device.

Having used the Treo, and currently owning the 6700 I must say I am much much happier with my 6700 than the Treo.

I am a sales rep at VZW and I have had plenty of time to play around with the 2 devices and by far, the 6700 is better. The processor is faster and the screen is alot easier to navigate, and the whole auto rotate on the screen (when the keyboard slides out), and the built in wifi are huge plusses.

Last time I checked, the 6700 is $100 cheaper and its just as good maybe even better than the 700w.

I do like the 700w's home page better than the 6700.

I like the look of the 6700 better, its got a tux look going for it.

Which ever u get make sure you download Opera Internet Browser-- a much better browser than pocket IE but ive noticed that it has problems with the 6700 when the device switches from landscape to portrait mode and vice versa. It might just be my PDA though.
