Audiovox 8600 vs. LG 4400

Have read all pro's and con's, still can't decide. Need tri-mode, like 8600's size, but don't like reports of tinny sound and not sure of durability. Hear lots of good about LG's durability but appears to have software issues as well as easily activated quiet mode, I do carry phone in pocket most of time. Also not fond of 4400's heavier weight and reported battery usage. Anyone have experience with both models. Any help greatly appreciated.

We usually do not carry/promote the Audiovox brand due to the fact that they are quickly obsolete and have inferior battery life compared to other phones. I do not know if this has improved in the 8600.

I have the LG4400 and I love it. (It has been through some rough times... repeated dropping, throwing, ect. and has held strong.) The battery life isn't the best; however you will find that with most color phones. The last bar seems to last at least 3 hours talk time... so its not so bad. I would recommend it!

i only have experience w/ the 8600, but from my expedience audiovox makes very durable phones, i have already dropped mine a couple times with no damage. i think the sound is fine. the audiovox's interface is a little different form that of other phones, but easily adjusted to.

How's the battery life? My wife needs a new phone, and it's between the 4400 and the 8600.

I have the 4400 and love it. My wife would prefer the smaller 8600 if the quality and battery life are comparable.

In regards to battery life, I'm not sure. But I have always had car chargers so I've never made a choice based on battery life of the phone - when it comes down to it most are close enough to each other for me... plus you stated a key point she "wants" the 8600 - so the choice is obvious to me! and if she is unhappy with it exactly who's fault would it be at that point... good luck! 😉

Here's how to make the decision:

Sex appeal? = 8600

Less to worry about? = 4400

It's a question of fashion or function. The cons you stated are valid. So it's a true toss up! I carry the VX6000(same platform as VX4400 - but dig only) & I've had zero issues.

I would choose the 8600 because its cons aren't that bad & speakerphone is just cool! 😁

I HAVE USED EVERY PHONE WE HAVE HAD OR RELEASED IN THE LAST YEAR. I CARRY THE 8600 RIGHT NOW AND I LOVE IT. I HAD THE SAMMY 530 AND THE VX6000 ALSO T730 AND LG4400. I THINK THAT THE 8600 IS THE MOST DURABLE AND THE SMALLEST AND THE LIGHTEST. THE A530 AND VX6000 HAVE BETTER CLEARITY BUT NOT 100$ WORTH. THE 4400 IS NOT EVEN IN THE BALLPARK. ALSO ALL THE TECHNICIANS I KNOW LOVE AUDIOVOX. THE MENU WILL NEVER BE MOTOROLA OR LG BUT ITS BETTER THAN SAMMY'S AND AT 100$ ON NEW ACTIVATION YOU CAN'T TURN IT DOWN. ADD IN THAT 50$ REBATE AND ITS YOURS FOR 50$!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think that its as functional for its price as it should be. I never feel that the battery life is what it should be . Also i have seen 4 burn up in the hands of the user. I do mean electrical fire!!! They tend to get stuck in some kind of manner mode ghost setting that really causes problems for me. There is no factory rebate for that phone right now, unless things are different in your area.

Interesting. I was looking at the 8600 last weekend to replace my wife's ST7868. The salesman at the Verizon store advised against the 8600, apparently due to an inordinate number of returns.

I have the 4400 and have never experienced any problems.

Um, did you even bother to check when this was posted? It's almost 3 years old and both of those phones are discontinued. I believe around here this is called necroposting. Make sure the topic is relevant before you bring it back up.
