Just been called in for an interview with Verizon here in Indiana. I've been a Sprint customers for 3 yrs now and other that a few sad remarks from Sprint employees (which I ignore) I don't alot about Verizon. What's the pay like, commission structure, advancement opportunities, etc?
...
pay depends on what department. u doing sales or cust serv? comission varies based on price of phone, whether it's sold with a new promo. and a certain percentage on each feat added. advancemnt is good but u definately have to know your stuff...its an ever chging industry, new phones/plans/feats/policies...ur never at a stand still with vzw. (of course all carriers are like that). i'm in cust serv but we're an outsourcing group (not actually vzw but we work for them) so i cant give u too much info. good luck with things.

Thanks. I'll be in sales at a retail store. I've heard good things (and some not so good things) and I have been impressed with Verizon's position in the market. thanks for the info

You do NOT get paid on phones you get paid on service, features and accessories. VZW really takes care of their employees. It's an awesome place to work
...
some regions pay you on phones.
...
thanx temp name, i thought so.....thought i was loosing it for a minute
...
When you say, "some regions pay you on Phones", are the regions similar to Sprint and its "affiliates" where different rules apply to different areas of the country????
...
nope, there is West, Midwest, Northeast and South, and within those regions there are Districts. It is decided by the powers that be on what areas get payed on [certain] phones.

You get a lot of good benefits...
Dental
Medical
401k (100% up to 6% match)
Tuition Reimbursement
Advancement Opportunities
In the retail stores, you have a great chance at commissions. They give a lot, but expect a lot more to be asked for in return.
...
don't do it they will suck the life out of you just wait three months into your career with vzw you will be reciting the worry free guarantee in your sleep
...
i hear that....but u'll be in sales so u can push people off to cust serv if they dont like what u say...that's the glory of sales and the horror of us cust serv reps.
...
Good luck.
When someone tells you it's going to be hard work, does that concern you? If it does, your going to have a hard road. If you think "Hard work never hurt anyone", then you'll sell a ton.
Verizon does expect that you will work and work hard. You get rewarded for it. Once your on the inside, you understand why Verizon folks go to bat for the carrier, the company really does believe in it's people. However, the culture is very much a 'moving forward' type of culture and you must be able to roll with changes.
If your cool with that, you'll be great.

Out here, anyway, it's a very solid company. You should get bennies from the get-go. I don't work in sales (CS for me), but I've heard that commissions work pretty well. And if you work hard and play the corporate game well, you can find yourself moving up the proverbial ladder pretty quickly. Best of all, it's a growing company that believes that happy cows make good milk, so for the time being at least there isn't a lot of nickel and dimey BS right now.
The one thing to watch out for if you do get in is that your boss and maybe his boss are the two most important people for you to please. I don't mean you have to be a suck-up (in fact, don't - that crap nearly always backfires), but if you ever decide to move into a different department...

You say you're in Customer Service? Is this in the retail store? If so, what's your day like? How's the pay? I'm looking for a position in sales and the local store is looking for a CS rep
