I check this page every day waiting for new phones and especially the 930! PhoneScoop doesn't show it yet, but it showed up here tonight!

I noticed that the phone shows mp3's being allowed to be used as ringtones. I believe that feature will be removed from the phone, like it was on the Nokia 6256i, requiring people to use Get it Now. I hope that phone allows use of a wire headset also. I don't want a phone that relies solely on a bluetooth headset, just in case the battery runs low on the headset, and can use the wire headset as a backup, should I get this phone.

I dont know what phone you are saying relies solely on bluetooth, but, if it is the razr, that phone does not rely solely on bluetooth. There are wired headsets out there. Razr uses a different connection then the 2.5, theres plug into the bottom of the phone where you plug the charger in. which is bad, as if you are in your car, you wont be able to have the charger and headset plugged in at the same time.

If you read the thread carefully, it's mainly referring to the Samsung a930. That's the phone I'm referring to when it comes to that should have a 2.5mm earjack for a backup headset, in case the bluetooth headset runs out of battery power. The Nokia 6256i, which my mom has has the 2.5mm universal jack, plus full bluetooth, which she hasn't utilized yet, and probably won't since she's computer illiterate. I'm well aware that the Razr relies solely on bluetooth, which isn't good, especially when many models have crippled bluetooth.

I am sure it will have a headset jack because it is a V Cast music phone. and therefore they want to sell the Music Essentials pack for it which includes a wired head set.

Wait a minute, isn't that the phone David Hasselhoff carried in Knight....Nah, can't be. I'm gonna save my hard earned money for something else (something that doesn't suck).

The Nokia 6265i pretty much has this phone beat in every aspect, although I like dedicated music buttons, and I'm more partial to clamshells rather than sliders. Its nearing the final stage of Q1 2006 and nothing substantial yet to come out...

how does the nokia 6256i have the a930 beat? the only thing i can think of maybe battery life, but we don't know what the battery life of the a930 is yet. otherwise the nokia didn't have any slots for memory cards i could see, but that is not the reason i didn't buy it. I was on the verge of buying the nokia from circuit city about 2 months ago when they had the phone on sale for 30 dollars and a free blue tooth headset. i thought it was an amazing offer but when you go and you actually see how ugly the phone is you want to beat it with a stick. it looks like an LG phone from 2000. so i don't understand why the nokia has the samsung beat, most of the features are the same except for what i just talked about.

the 6256i has anolog, uncrippled bluetooth, and the mmc slot is under the battery. It is ugly but it works really well. The all black samsung looks great tho 🙂

um? the samsung has a megapixel camera, evdo and vcast and how anoying is sticking the memory slot under the battery? the samsung also has the internal antenna allowing it to fit in your pocket better and isn't but ugly but slim and sexy.

I wasn't hacking on the a930 I was just pointing out a few positives of the 6256i, and I was mistaken on which phone was being discussed 🙂

I know, wasn't slamming you, just pointing out the advantages of the sammy over the 6256, now that other nokia looks like it might be pretty cool, i don't know about the slider form though. Not a big fan, but 2 megapixel camera sounds nice.

now the 6265 is pretty cool, i will have to check that one out, but my understanding is the samsung will be out in next few months and that nokia is probably next christmas. So I will be content with the 930 for 6 months or so. Oh and word on the street is that samsung has 5 meg camera phone due out for verizon 4 quarter this year!!!!!!!!!

Both the Nokia 6265i and the Samsung A930 are "slated" for 1st Quarter 2006.

As for 5 megapixels from Samsung by Christmas, I wouldn't hold my breath.
