Can I do this

I have a question. I found an agent that has a phone that I like that is no longer offered by verizon, the LG8000, I have that phone now, and it is an awesome phone. The question I have, is can I get that phone under contract, 1 year, and not have it activated. I want it to have when my 8000 dies, I want to activate it then. Might as well use the one I have till it starts acting up. The agent says he thinks I have to activate it, then he can go and un-activate it and put my old phone back on. To me, this seems kind of dumb, I can get a phone under contract, who cares if I activate it right away.

You would have to activate it as that accepts the contract in the computer. However changing it back to your original phone shouldn't be a problem for him and you'd never really notice.

its a refurburbished phone that I got as a FRU. I used for about a day, then I got an e815. The phone works fine, except for one thing...the front buttons dont work, so you wouldnt be able to check text msgs from the front...the side buttons work, just not the ones on the front. I would prolly take $135, which should be less than what they are charging on ebay (due to the small defect) Let me know.
