It depends on where you live or where you will use the phone predominately. There are spots where Sprint will have better coverage than Verizon and vice versa.

greatly depends on if you are counting sprints roaming or just their netwrok.

what does roaming have to do with it, if he picks up signal and it does not charge him then he is good to go.

Um, the brochure i have may be a little outdated, but to some it up not all plans have the same coverage. Some are just the native network where you may pay extra for roaming if you choose, and some plans include the roaming already. So basically i would consider that two different maps, where all verizon plans include roaming off netwrok already, no need to pay extra or add a feature. Maybe they have changed that, but i think this brochure is fairly recent. So the difference is it may pick up a signal but you may be paying out the A$$ to use it. Or have they changed all their plans to no roaming fees(including off network service)?

they are both very similiar but it will vary in the markets becuase sprint is better in some areas and verizon is better then sprint in others.

they have a lot of capacity in their networks but sprint operates at 1.9ghz while verizon at 800mhz which allows for verizon to get better penetration and coverage in a heavy dense area.

they are both very good in many areas.

remember there is a free tial policy.. use them.
