Service up soon...txt messaging ?

Ace2525

Hi all....Im currently a T-Mobile customer and my contract is up in 2 months...i was looking at going to verizon b/c i want a new phone but when u upgrade w/ tmobile the phone prices suck.

Just wanted to know what the txt plans were for verizon. I saw online 500+ unlim in for $10 and then it went to 1000 msg, and so on...is that there only message plans...im with tmobile and currently i have unlimited messaging (pix, video, txt, aim) FOR ALL family lines (3 lines) for only $10 a month total..i cant justify switching if were gonna have to pay another $20 a month and sacrifice unlimited txting to anyone.

are these the only txt packages?

thanks, Nick

I meant to type UI, user interface

verizon has created their own UI for all the phones they offer. Its very ugly has red bars at the top and bottom of the screen. You know longer have the freedom of choice (UI) when choosing your phone. If you haven't seen it swing by the verizon store, you will run out screaming, and you'll be so thankful you have t-mobile. They also cripple all their phones. The list is endless, they do have a good network if you can hang with high prices and ugly phones. I was at the tmobile store this weekend and was looking at the sammy t809 now that is a hella sweet phone with a very fun, customizable, animated UI.

Hmm, and other companies don't put any restrictions on phones? My tmobile razr will not allow me to get ringtones through text, makes you subscribe and send you to a link to tzones. My Verizon razr, just send a text with a ringtone attached and tada free ringtone. What's up with that. Their are also a lot of people who like the ui. I have always used lg's over the past years and hated moto's set up, so the transition to the razr from my 8100 was nice and easy becasue of the same interface. When I had my 8100 it had video wallpaper in and out, razer has picture walpaper, and i can send it free ringtones, what more customization does one need? you need to go get some cheese to go with your wine, that is all you do in here.

So i have to buy a bluetooth adaptor ๐Ÿ™„ That is a pointless argument in my opinion, My 8100 I had to buy a data cable, so now my tmobile razr i have to buy a bluetooth adaptor? My verizon razsr, didn't have to buy anything. And you did not give the guy an honest answer, you simply left out the fact that any time he sends a text to another verizon subscriber it is free if he has an in package, that is kinda of important part of the package, especially if he is getting multiple phones through them or has friends or family he texts to with verizon.

How many times do we all need to hear that you don't like the UI? You don't like it, I get it. I won't go as far as to say that your the only one who does not like it, but I've never heard a customer complain about it. It just does not seem to be as big of an issue as you make it.

It breaks down like this. This forum is full of brainwashed verizon fan boys, and thatโ€™s cool we need them. I'm just here to equal the playing field. I've read many threads where the fan boys weren't giving the straight answer to the detriment of the one seeking the answers. Thatโ€™s not cool. Some of these die hard fan boys live in verizon land, where the sun always shines, they walk on Marshmallow streets, and there is always a rainbow in the sky. I believe verizon is a good company, but they have a lot of control freak ways and its getting worse and people should know. I have stumbled across very recent threads where people had know idea how verizon limits their phones. A person coming from t-mobile to verizon should know what they are gett...

I think that I just disagree with you on the control freak portion of your argument. What is Verizon trying to control in regards to the UI? More specific, what do they gain by having a limited customization of the UI? I'll agree its not perfect, and would be better if you could customize. But I dont feel that they are trying to control anything with this, just make it easier for most users.

Have you used the internet on a verizon phone? Do you know they limit content on it? Have you used the internet on a cingular phone? Now tell me again how they donโ€™t control things. I'll be here waiting. ๐Ÿคฃ

I have used verizons mobile web for years, and I'm not limited in any way. I can go to just about any site I want.

You stated in an early post that you are here to correct the fanboys out there but you need to have your own facts straight before you make any claims

it does curtail (block) manufacturer unique features, which eliminates choice, which in my book is controlling.

The bottom line is Verizon standardized the UI for one simple reason; so that they could force-feed you Verizon pay services. Anyone who believes otherwise is naive. You can think itโ€™s for the customer but the fact is it's ugly and amateurish. Plenty of others have created a stable yet simple UI that's still functional, easy on the eyes, customizable and fun to use. There's no reason Verizon couldn't have done the same.

I agree. The UI is really a waste of money and time. If you don't think so and I know not all people have the same ideas. There will always be one odd man out. Overall the UI I think it is for basic customers. Ones who don't really care what the phone offers. They say "a phones a phone not a toy". "As long as I can call and do basic features I'm fine". If you offended or anything sorry. The UI is pretty good switching phone but if you hate it there isn't another option you can go to but when you contract is up leave. But if you love it, you've got yourself a happy customer same with if you don't care. I think Verizon should accommodate for everyone one. Its just like a car. If you don't like the interior or what it has to offer you don't go ...

Verizon has limited this option for people and I think that is what makes them so mad. I am going straight over to tmo or cingular because of text messaging plans, and the UI.
(Sorry for the novel)

I couldn't agree more, verizon is lame for doing this.

ArmySF, why do you hang out in this forum, they only thing i ever see in your posts is negative, why spend your time in here crying all the time? just curious, if I hated Verizon as much as you seem to I wouldn't hang out here, I have a dislike for sprint becasue of my own reasons but I am not in their forum bitching all the time.

Verizon Currently has these and ONLY these text options anymore:

$5=250 texts

S10= Unlimited IN texts/pix/flix (Verizon to Verizon) + 500 additional texts to anyone (sprint, cingular, e-mails etc)

$15= Unlimited IN texts/pix/flix + 1K additional

$20= Unlimited IN txt/pix/flix +2.5K additional

There is NO straight up UNLIMITED to anyone text package, and all these text packages are PER PHONE, not for a family share or anything like that. So what you were paying $10 for w/ T-Mobile would cost you a minimum of $10 per line, and thats if you mainly text/pix/flix with other Verizon Customers only.

Hope that helps. No flames, no fight, just facts. Good luck w/e you choose.

Thank u all for ur help. I understand everything, and i will probably stick w/ tmobile. Yes Verizon's coverage is better but T-mobile on Long island is just fine for me. I want a SK3 ๐Ÿ™‚ when it comes out.

I'm disappointed Verizon's txt plans are so shi*ty. I was actually going to consider them but not at the prices there charging. I just started the $10 for unlim messaging to anyone for everyone on the family plan and cant give up that deal. its amazing.

Thank u all for ur time.
