New paint blocks out cell phone signals

ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 1 (UPI) -- A Rochester, N.Y., company
has developed paint that can switch between blocking cell
phone signals and allowing them through.
"You could use this in a concert hall, allowing cell phones to
work before the concert and during breaks, but shutting them
down during the performance," said Michael Riedlinger,
president of NaturalNano.
Using nanotechnology, particles of copper are inserted into
nanotubes, which are ultra-tiny tubes that occur naturally in
halloysite clay mined in Utah. Combined with a
radio-filte...

Ringing cell phones are bad enough in movies where tickets run $10 (NYC area), but Broadway shows are now $110/seat and operas over $300/seat (Metropolitan Opera), so turn off your damn phone. I'd welcome the jamming paint.
I personally would not do business or patronize any company that chooses to just block signals instead of enforcing common courtesy with cell phones. I would never talk on the phone in a theater BUT I do receive text messages which do not disturb anyone.
I won't even address the "radiation" subject.

Considering anything that blocks cell signals is illegal (or any radio signals) I am curious what the FCC has to say about this.

Im glad you wont address the radiation issue. I wouldn't want you putting out misinformation. You conspiracy quacks have people believing cell phones are safe on the cells. Put your head in the microwave turn it on for 2 minutes tell me how you feel afte...

Pot calling the kettle black?
There are no studies out that show digital cellular tranmissions from mobile phones have a negative effect on human cells. Everything has been found to be inconclusive. On the other hand their is significant testing that states digital cellular tranmissions are safe.
Do you eat Steak?
Do you watch TV?
Studies show those cause cancer too.
Your micromave comment shows your complete ignorance. Most microwaves operate in the 600W to 1 KW range. Cellphones transmit in the 2 mW range. THAT IS OVER 10000% LOWER.

I don't know how true it is, but in other countries, some places use jammers so that cellphones can't be used inside their buildings. I hope that it isn't implemented here in the states anytime soon. The only places I use my phone at are the grocery store, any department store, the mall, and at home (or someone else's home). I don't use it in a theatre, restaurant, gym (unless it's an emergency, which is rare), and at work (cellphone use isn't allowed inside the building, and in my case, Verizon's weak signal can't penetrate the metal shack like Cingular, Sprint, & Nextel can, so Verizon can only be used in the parking lot, as long as someone doesn't have an LG or Motorola phone).

thats weird my verizon phone can penetrate a sh*t brick house, W0rd
🤣
Where I work at, Verizon's nearest towers is over 4.5 miles away, so unless you have a good phone, it won't work as well, and most of the towers around Lowell Indiana are fairly new, so those towers don't have analog on them, and for what few towers still have analog, it's worse than the digital signal. Since Verizon has no tower in town, their signal doesn't penetrate the shack I work in. Nextel, Sprint, & Cingular can penetrate the shack because they have towers near my work place. I'm not sure where Nextel has their tower at, but Sprint & Cingular have their towers in the downtown area, and I work near Downtown Lowe...
