i have been reading this forum for the past year and i find myself just shaking my head and sumtimes i actually have to walk away from the computer. if there are soooo many people in this forum that hate vzw so much why the hell are you in here? go chat it up with cingulars forum or nextels. it just seems quite idiotic to me that youd spend all your free time in a forum picking on the big guy. get a life.
and as far as the new standard UI. shut the hell up about it, it has a 86.2% approval rating, and for almost 50 million customers thats good. so its not gunna change. get over it, and complain about something else.

This forum isn't limited to mindless fools who can only worship Verizon. It's a place for customers to come and discuss variuos issues about the service; good and bad. Most of your post is crap!!! Specifically:
“as far as the new standard UI. shut the hell up about it, it has a 86.2% approval rating”
Bool Chit ! ! ! While I agree that UI threads are getting old, don’t act like limiting the ability to customize the phone is some great benefit and that we should be grateful the almighty Verizon is saving us from ourselves.
“as far as crippling the phones. you all are a bunch of hypocrites”
Double Bool Chit ! ! ! Verizon is losing the loyalty of their customers because of their shortsighted efforts to force every function onto t...

I agree with the original post. You all know Verizon has the best service. So you just like to bach it cause your jealous that Cingular has a few nice phones but to bad they dont work anywhere!!!!
Cingular: WORST CONSUMER RATING 3 YEARS IN A ROW.
Cingular: MOST DROPPED CALLS 4 YEARS IN A ROW.
Cingular: LARGEST CARRIER BY A MERE 3 MILLION CUSTOMERS ONLY CAUSE THEY BOUGHT ATT.
T-MOBILE: ALL AROUND JOKE OF A COMPANY.
Sprint/Nextel: Decent service. Had them before.
Listen GSM fans. GSM is HUGE is europe. Unfortunately you need to understand you live in AMERICA where CDMA will always RULE.
CDMA is a much better technology. Japan and Korea are realizing this and thats why they are putting up a LARGE number of CDMA networks now...

this comment: "So do something smart with your life for once. Pay Cingular the 175 termination fee and get a real phone with REAL service from a REAL company that will soon be number one again when they buy back their shares from vodaphone, wipe out alltell and any other small CDMA carrier. Give it about 2 - 5 years. Verizon will have well over 75 millions customers leaving cingular in the dust." is stupid. number one after they buy back vodafones shares. I think you prove the point for cdma here. If cdma is cheaper and historically has fewer dropped calls it make it superior. With cdma it is a fact you get more connections per a channel than cdma (9). Which increases the amount of traffic you can have per a tower. This explains Cingulars need to have so many towers. With that many customers and a limited amount of channels per a tower they need more. It is better than iden which gets like 4 or 5 channels but is less than the 9 cdma can get. I think it's 6 or 7 or something like that. Cheaper reliable and can take more volume of calls. Sounds like something you would need in high populace areas, like Asia. Tokyo ,Taiwan, and Beijing are some very populace areas. Cdma gives them the opportunit...

So Bell Atlantic didn't buy Nynex, GTE, Primco and Airtouch?????

How does buying back VOD 45% increase their subscibers?

Not even gonna touch this one. Your opinion is worthless.

i dont reall care bout the ui ...but thats just me, all of you people on here can hate it all you want ......but i would have to disagree about the lose of loyalty because of the crippling thing ...how many of vzw customers actually need all those features and anyways you can always get atleast one phone that does most of that (no6256i) .....but i dont think you get what is being said about the manufacturing of the phones, do you work in a store ???? it gets really old that we get yelled at cuz people come in and their phone isnt working 😲 ...so we send it to the REAL manufacture 😛 (being moto, lg , nokia, samsung, ect.)and THEY send it back saying it is physical damage 😲 ...verizon doesnt have a choice in that ...and on top of that al...

I have a Verizon Landline. I can buy any phone I want from any source I want. I choose to buy a Uniden phone at SEARS. Take it home, plug it in, find out it’s a piece of crap. Hold Uniden and Sears responsible. Not Verizon Communications (LandLine) fault at all because they have an open system where I can choose any phone from any manufacturer and put it on the system.
I have Verizon Wireless Service. Verizon Wireless limits the phone selection to a very small list of pre-approved models and let’s me buy only directly from them or their authorized agents. Then when the phone turns out to be a piece of crap they wash their hands of responsibility and claim responsibility is solely the manufacturer.
Last August I went into a VZW store on...

well based on what you have said ...i guess you shouldnt have went to that store 😲 ...cuz in our stores if you have a defective phone we will send it in and have it repaired by whoever made the pos and give you a loaner phone til yours gets back 😛 .......but you still cant blame verizon for kyocera making a bad phone 😳 ...since i actually had the slider and mine never messed up...but now i have the no6256i and i am having problems with it...but i dont call verizon and b**ch i call nokia cuz they are the one that made it ...if i have a problem with the service i call the service provider if i have a problem with hardware i call the person or comapny that made the item ....thats all my point is .....

And my point is that as long as VZW keeps control of what phones I can buy and forces me to buy through their channels, I will continue to hold VZW primarily responsible for defective equipment.

its just funny how you put since you know that verizon doesnt make the equipment and you still hold them responsible
do you hold the car dealership responsible if you buy a brand new car (with no miles on it) and it breaks down or do you hold (gm, ford, lexus, ect.) liable...granted you will take whatever equipment it is to the place you bought it but you cant be mad if they come back and say the manufacture wont fix it cuz they (the manufacture) say it was not a manufacturer defect

Good Question ! ! ! Let me think… If I bought a lemon GM car from a dealer, would I take it back to the dealer and biatch at them ? ? ?
No… I’d tow it to Detroit and biatch at the CEO of GM.
Any more brilliant questions ? ? ?

WOW! This poorly research post just about ruined my fine morning. 😈
First of all, if I pay for a phone at a price I am expected certain performance. Crippling the bluetooth file sharing capacity is wrong. Bluetooth is ALOT more than just using bluetooth headsets.
Second, the standard UI. Too many lazy people are out there to actually read the manual or spend time on how a phone works. A cell phone is not rocket science. NOT that difficult. Verizon might as well call every phone "Verizon XXXXX" And where did you get the numbers on the approval rating?? I certainly did NOT get any surveys.
Third, it is right that Verizon doesn't make the phones. But they do tell the manufactures what to put on there and they DO load the s...

So, I read a number of things in this thread that are both good and bad. For the record, cellular is an impossible industry. No carrier, despite how good, will ever manage to elevate themselves above the level of general contempt in the eyes of the public. This is the reason why local governments will ban the use of cell phones while driven but not the Egg McMuffin.
It is a service that requires the carrier receive and hold the service (a call) with a moving target (the cellular user). It is an impossible service that is regularly executed by most all carrier with shocking consistency. If you have a dish, aim it and hope it doesn't get too windy. With my cell phone, I can drive 45 minutes to work and a good chance I won't drop a call. Tha...

I think you are being naïve to think that restricting the equipment on the network is not an attempt to hold the customer captive. The Wireless networks tightly control handset availability so that they can keep equipment prices extraordinarily inflated, and then hook you into a contractual arrangement buy subsidizing prices. If manufactures were allowed to manufacture to a network spec. and sell phones through whatever distribution channels they choose, equipment prices will fall dramatically and contracts will be a thing of the past. Although this may not be the best thing for the carriers it would be a huge benefit to consumers. Only a fool or someone whose interests are tied to the Wireless industry would dispute this.
Another point ...

what I don't understand is the only phone that VZW crippled without full disclosure was the V710 which resulted in a lawsuit - so why are these people purchasing then complaining? how may companies are out there that say "okay lets just make as much free on the phone"? VZW is a business with employees and there is a overhead to consider. and yes VZW is one of the only wireless companies in the green. but since when has a company making good business choice wrong, especially when VZW (which is a wireless communications company) still has a great reliable network and one of the best customer service rating in the industry just because they choose not to give out things for free. maybe in the world of competitive business it can be criticiz...

The world is changing fast. Do you have a high speed internet connection? The DSL providers (Landline phone companies) and Cable providers are trying to restrict what you can access through your broadband connection. As an example, the current broadband providers want to restrict the VOIP phone companies such as Vonage from providing phone service to you through the internet. This is a good business policy for the broadband providers because they provide phone service and would like to lock out the VOIP competition. Fortunately for ALL CONSUMERS OF BROADBAND SERVICE, the Telecommunications Act of 1996 requires that the broadband providers keep their network open.
The broadband providers want to close their networks because it is in their ...

I've read this entire thread, and now I feel like rambling. You may agree or disagree, you are entitled to you opinion, but this is what I think.
Let's start of with VZW and their restricted services. Sure, I wish I could do what ever I wanted with my phone. I wish I could get free ring-tones and break copyright laws so that the artists of those ring-tones don't get paid, causing them to raise ticket prices when I want to see them in concert. Sure, wish my blue-tooth was fully functional, even though I probably would never use it, it would be nice to have. I wish that I didn't have to buy music from Vcast music to put on my phone, or wait, I don't have to, all I have to do is change my MP3's into WMA's and they work. Duh. But is there a r...
