you damn right they are gearing up for the states.

they hear how we complain about us getting phones last and not having all the futuristic equipment like they do in europe. so they want to bring that to the states.

It kinda seems like VodoFone is shopping for a best offer kinda thing...

Im assuming if they left VZW, that would have an huge negative effect... (Sorry, Im still learning about all the mergers and such...)

well the point of selling this japanese business is becuase it isnt growing and they figure they should either 1. focus on their core 2. grow in other places or 3. do something with verizon wireless.

well, verizon wireless is such a huge money maker that they must find something else if infact they do sell out verizon wireless. i think what would be best for them, the 2 companies, is to merge becuase they would be so dominant especially internationally.

no problem.. mergers are fun..

have any ideas if vodafone will either
1. buy out verizon wireless
2. buy out the whole verizon corp
3. dump verizon wireless (well their stake)
4. buy out some other usa company
5. do nothing
6. other?

dude, i think verizon comm is going to have to learn that marriage sucks and deal with vodaphone, because there is no incentive for vodaphone to dump a cash cow, especially with verizon doing most of the work

why? technology differences make no difference.

by the way, if the company continues to do well then why not? (and i said verizon as a whole which includes verizon wireless)

so do you think they are really not thinking about selling their shares are this is just something they told the public but are really gonna sell?

this always happens though.. when the carrier says they wont sell or buy, then the next year it happens...

i think it is in their best interest not to sell..

so yes, i dont think they are going to sell.

flee real quick! i'd probally keep all of my contracts and later drop the wakest link. i don't know who it would be just yet but i'm most likely to keep cingy, vzw, and my sprint.

Vodaphone needed cash. Despite it's size, they appeared to be in a less than favorable cash position. With DoCoMo and HDDI about 2ish years ahead in 3G, Vodaphone Japan was a dog in need of unloading.

As for VZ, Vodaphone isn't budging. Sure, Vodaphone has a price for the 45% stake, it's just higher than the value of such a purchase. VZ only makes money for Vodaphone so the incentive to unload is nil. Verizon Comm, would and did try to make na offer but it does take an interested seller to complete the deal.
