All i ever hear is that vzw has no nice phones. what makes a nice phone? that its all black and either thin or odd shaped? all you people are concerned with is looks.
please find me one (non pda) gsm phone thats better then the LG VX-8100(just an example)

I actually agree with you regarding the whole "gsm has better phones..not really". I really dont think they do, but verizon just keeps ruining phones by releasing these things in ridiculous colors...I am in sales, and I can't show up with some blue phone, or red phone (a950). I agree with you...sort of. I agree that it is not fair to use a blanket statement like "vzn has no good phones." they have plenty of excellent phones, but sometimes they are just a little behind the ball when it comes to releasing these phones...then they cripple, and standardize their phones, Which i think is the main reason people get so frustrated about the phone selection, it's not necessarily the phones...its the company!

If cariers were forced to allow any manufactuer to produce phones to the network spec., and distribute those phones through whatever retail channel they choose, then phone selection would be virtually unlimited.

Prices wouldn't go anywhere. GSM phones can be produced and sold by anyone and they don't cost any less than CDMA phones. Verizon isn't limiting Sprint's selection of phones and their prices aren't any different than Verizon's.
People seem to think "competition" will make all cell phones cost a dollar and have 4 color screens, 78 megapixel camera with 1 TB of storage, run Windows 2020 on a 9 GHz processor and run on a fuel cell that never dies. BS Anyone can make a car, anyone can make a computer, radio, cd, etc and none of those items have significantly changed price in the last 5 years.

I myself don't have a problem with Verizon's phones. However, this forum is to discuss the things we like, dislike, would like to change or would like to keep about Verizon.

I have no problem with exchanging ideas but it gets annoying when everyone rips the selection of phones and they point out the "nice" phones at cingular or t-mo and they arent any better, in fact most cases inferior to the vzw phones they bash. they are black tho!

and personnally i don't like an all black phone or an all black car or an all black shoe black to me is a boring color i like gray, silver, blue, and a little black here and there but all 1 of any color is just boreing, then again there have been a few phones which have poorly mixed any of these colors together to make something ugly and boring

If ppl would just ditch crippled verizon and pick up the BLADE folks would be a lot happier like me. I agree with another poster ppl freak out that they hate the phones but actually hate verizon and all their stupid rules and ugly UI gets very aggravating. It easy to understand I was one of them before I woke up and realized that verizon was not all that.
