Even though I am very happy with VZW I wouldn't sign a 3 year. It's just to long and you never know what will come up in three years. I mean I will probably have service with VZW in three years but I will make that choice as I go along.

If you look at it it really isn't that much of a deal anyway. I'm sure VZW would try to sell it as giving you $480 in free service or saving you from overages worth that much but in reality is is only about $70 worth of service depending on which plan you are on.

That is something I just don't get. They want to charge you $0.40 if you go over by a minute but that same minute on your plan is only $0.05 or $0.06.

First off, whats the big deal, everytime verizon does something that people in this forum think is "crazy" business people are thinking, damn, why didnt I think of that. This isn't greedy, it's smart. People, ITS AN OPTION, if you dont want to do it, dont do it...if the people at verizon can lock you up, why shouldn't they try it? I think this is a smart, hell I would prolly even do it, if I really want to leave verizon, I'll probably have to buy my way out anyway, atleast this way I can get an extra 100 minutes per month.

AND THIS SHOULD NOT EFFECT YOUR NE2...ne2 is based on 2 years, not when your contract starts and stops.

yea but your equipment upgrade is 10months into a 1 year contract, and 22 months into a 2 year contract so would it be 34 months into a 3 year contract?? see what i mean it may turn into NE3?

I would only hope by the time I upgrade, and if this is true, then they better not drop the NE2 option when I upgrade. I've been doing 2 year contracts now for 2 years. I however refuse to do 3 year contracts. I can't imagine a handset working 3 years, though it's possible. I'm surprised my Samsung a650 has lasted me this long, but I'm ready for a different phone though.

you guys are missing the point. If you sign a three year deal today. you would be eligible for a new phone in 2 years...NOT THREE. And once again, if you dont like the offer DONT CHANGE YOUR PLAN!!! Its just that simple.

why on earth would you do that? if you know you are going to stay with VZN or you don't care about being locked in for 3 years, this is a great deal. VZn is getting something, and the consumer is getting something, I would probably do this if it was offered to me. I dont want to 900 min for $60 , but I would like a little more than 450 min. So I might be willing to sign a three year deal for the minutes....Just because YOU wouldnt take advantage of the plan, doesn't make it sound silly for someone else to.

I don't see this as being truthful considering there is no code in there system for a 3yr contract. There are codes in the system for 1YR and 2YR contracts on all the plans, there are NONE for 3YR contracts. Are they hiding the codes from employees all of a sudden?

this is crazy...

how can anyone stay with one company that long. so much can happen in 3 years.

either this is true or i am giving up cell phone in general and going back to the days of smoke signals.

dont businesses have ethics anymore? whatever happened to having customer because you have quality items??? now its just find some cheap way to make customers sign their lives away.

The 3 year contract is only a trial run in select markets. It's not even an option you can get in the store. There is no added discount on phones, you just recieve and extra 100 minutes per month. Keeping in mind that it is only being trialed... it is subject to change IF they decide to go ahead nationwide with it.
Furthermore, given Verizon Wireless policy, you are eligible to upgrade your phone every 22 months anyways, regardless of where in your contract you stand, I believe the NEWE2 is still 22 months on the 3 yr plan, but I'm not entirely sure. Also, the 3 yr agreement only pertains to the primary line, not the secondary's.
The only person this really screws are the sales reps because the 3 yr contract will almost never reach renew...

Wow, I got the same letter a few days ago. I thought they were out of their damn mind. 2yrs yeah, 3 yrs HELL NO 😈! Give me a $200-$300 rebate towards a phone, and loosen up all the restrictions on the phones and maybe I'll consider it. 🤣 😁 😉

let me clarify a little. yes there are three year plans. yes you still get a phone after two years. no they aren't hiding codes from employees. this is only offered through tele sales. and yes its a good thing for those who want to stay because it gives them more for their money. there verizon goes giving to the cust again. just like how hirrible they are for unlimited in right army?

Army allways makes me laugh .. It sounds like sprint and him will be a good match. *GG Sprint*

Anyways VZW has offered 3 year contracts for awhile now for certain customer that are eligable it is exclusivly done through Telemarketing at this point. The custs that qualified got everything from extra minutes to discount accessories/phone and sooner. VZW has changed there old model on this so I can only assume its only minutes now.

Dude, nobody said that they were offering it in California. It is not something that you can request and is not something that is offered through retail or customer service channels. The 3 year contract is a marketing promotion that is offered to a targeted customer base through the marketing department and occasionally telesales.

The 3 year contract campaign began some time ago, but not many people were aware of it because it IS a risky proposition andI'm sure VZW wants to make sure that had a good grasp on how well received it will be before making it available on any large scale level.

For all of you making a fuss about this, I am astonished. Unless you get a call or letter from marketing offering you this promotion, then thi...

If what you say is true about California than they might as well susceed from the union, because that is the most communist thing I have ever heard. If a consumer would like to sign a 3 year contract for service than no government entity should be able to stop them. We are a capitalist society not a communist society. The government should not be able to decide what a company can or cannot offer to consumers.

Back in the day 3 year contracts were not rare, look back about 6 years ago. When i first started selling verizon 4 years ago I would get three year contract people in my store all the time. Verizon always allowed those people to upgrade after 22 months, just like a two year plan, so if you know you are not going to switch and you can still upgrade in 22 months, why not take the deal. If you don't well then verizon still offers 1 and two year plans so why all the crying?

Working for CS for VZW we do have 3 year contracts, but the are only offered from continuity marketing. the customer signs up for a 2 year contract and then CMO send a form that the customer signs to have a 3 year contract, and the customer get 100 bonus mins. i help NE area customers so i cant speak for the rest of the country. the downfall to doing the 3 year contract is when you are eligible for NE2 it has to be done from the CMO dept due to the majority of the times a 2 year extention would not exceed where the current contract ends. so that means you cant go to store to get NE2 done.
