Question
Here is the scenario:
My e815 has been messed up for a while and VZW has offered me to get out of my contract, a brand new 815 or some crappy standarized LG phone, but what I really want is a $175 credit towards the purchase of a new phone (wait till something better comes out) but they wont budge. I am now contemplating leaving VZW. Isnt illogical that VZW would rather me leave than keep me on board for $175 credit?
thoughts?

No it's not illogical They are already willing to provide you with a replacement ph (815) and not reset your upgrade date sounds pretty fair to me. Unless... You are a business customer spending 10gs a month with 500 lines.

They are not going to reset your upgrade date so you are getting a BRAND NEW E815 and still eligible for promo pricing after 22 mo's of your contract is up. 289.99 For the 815 full retail or lose you as a customer and save that money! It would take 7 months of your 39.99 rate plan just to make up the difference in the phone cost as well as still trying to rcoup the original ph. cost= VZW LOSES MONEY.

Its not that great of a deal. they are giving me a phone for $175 but I dont want it, so juts give it to me in the form of a credit, I am not asking for a personal check, a CREDIT people, a credit.
I love talking to VZW reps, they have the same by the book answers, never customize to their customers needs.

If the phone is under warranty, it's the manufacturer who is getting billed (eventually) for it, not Verizon. So why would Motorola pay for your LG phone (for example)?

If I was you i would just take the new E815. They are one of the better phones out right now, the one that you got must have just been a lemon so the next one that you get may not have ne problems...Just a suggestion

yea plus if you just don't want an E815 you can probably sell the one they give you and buy what ever phone it is that you want...What phone do you want anyway all the other phones are standerdized

If your E815 is under warranty and they are replacing with a NEW phone...then they are more then taking care of you. If they as a company (or any company for that matter) start letting the customer dictate company policy, it would be disaster for that company.

No, I should take whatever VZW gives. I should put my faith in a phone that I have swapped out 5 times in the last 3 months or get a crappy, real professional looking red ugly phone that I don't want...and oh yea not to mention there communist like standard UI (red + standard UI=communist.)
They can have their moto back give me $175 credit towards another phone. they are giving it to me in the form of an ETF, so whats the biggie.

So why would verizon give you any credit if you (can) leave them tomorrow paying $175 ETF (a wash with your credit) and sell the phone on ebay for full retail price?
There's a 15 day return policy. Trust me, if something is wrong with your car/tv/computer you've purchased 7 months again, there's no way you are gonna get your money back no matter what troubles do you have with it. Unless it killed you. đ
