Let's Talk . Com

dumbfounded

Apr 1, 2006, 9:44 AM
Hi everyone !!! A quick question... Has anyone ever used Lets Talk.com as a means of upgrading their cell phone ?? I am currently under contract with VW and I would like to upgrade to the Moto E815. It seems as though this phone could be purchased for $199 through Lets Talk vs $289.99 with Verizon. Can anyone share their experiences either positive or negative with this company ?? Thanks in advance !!!! Chris

Call best buy, the $199 is current cost of that model, and the bestbuy by me sells them out at cost, no mark up. So you might be able to runn over to best buy and get it for 199.99. I am at a agent location we sell it for 250, but their is a $50 rebate you can send in so it would end up being 200.

I do not know if you can actually upgrade through Lets talk. I think you can only start a new line there. I could be wrong but I do know that I have only seen them start new lines for people when they meant to be upgrading and then people are stuck with 2 accounts and a big mess.

I never tried letstalk.com and probably never will. Sure I want to save money, but service plays a major role in that. I like to get my phone right away, so you're not likely to find me ordering it online. As for upgrades at Best Buy, my local Best Buy (Hobart Indiana) charges $50 more on upgrades for Verizon Wireless than they do for new activations. I don't know if they get paid more commission from Verizon Wireless on new activations than on upgrades, but I think that's a ripoff to make a person wanting to upgrade pay more for a phone than for someone who's signing up for the first time. Most resellers in my area charge the same price on their phones for new activations & upgrades. My mom wanted to get the Nokia 6256i from Best Buy,...

As the original poster, my intent was to see if there was another reliable company other than VW to upgrade my phone. I haven't been to my local Best Buy yet, but I will probably go tomorrow to see what the deal is. I'm just finding it hard to pay $289.99 (before tax), $311 after tax for a new E815 through Verizon Wireless ....On Ebay, I would pay approx $260 delivered for a new phone through "the wirelesspro"....Would it be worth the $50 savings to go with someone who I don't know much about ????

No! Go to the retail corp. store bottom line that way if you have any problems you can go right back there and say wtf with pos. W0rd 🙂

where do you live, i might be able to help, like i said the company i work for sells them new at 250, then you can use the verizon mail in rebate, and our equipment is ordered from verizon so it will be fully covered under waranty and the mail in rebate will be valid. As i said befoore, my understanding is you just wnat to buy a phone, correct? no upgrade(contract renewal) just buy one out right, correct? If so best buy by me sells at cost, but like i said i might just have idiots working at the one by me, so let us know.

My company actually is selling the E815 for $100 has a $50 MIR and comes with a free bluetooth headset!

Depending where you are there are deals everywhere you just have to look around.

I'm not sure why people even get phones through those websites. They seem kinda shady and take WAY too much business from the reps that work hard each and every day.

Most people usually buy from a website and then bring it in because they want to have their cake and eat it too. They buy from them and since nobody explains the phone to them or know how to work it, we (the reps) have to be customer service for the people that we were "too expensive" for before. 🙄

I have no problems helping someone with their phone but when it comes to losing ...

Me...Makeithappen,

As previously stated, the reason I was looking elsewhere for the E815 is because at this point in time, I can't justify paying over $300 (after tax) through VW to replace my current phone. I'm very unhappy with my LG VX6100 and just wanted an upgrade. The problem is I wont be elligble for promotional pricing for another 12 months or so. What company do you work for that cn charge $100 minus the rebate ?? I'm interested !!!! It sounds it's through VW and it's for NEW accounts. What's the deal ????

In addition, I understand that buying a phone through another company would make it impossible for me to get tech service through VW. I'm just trying to weigh the pros/cons...

verizon is selling it for 100-50 rebate with two year agreement, which you are not eligible for, i think a lot of people missed the part where you were just out right buying it not signing a contract. I will give you this suggestion as an option as well, call customer care and tell them that a store rep told you that you can get %25 off the retail of a new phone since you are not eligible to upgrade, that is a program they have running that just isn't really published, so you may be surprised and get a good deal and just have customer care send you one. If they are selling them full retail at 260 after the discount it would only be 195. Call in and try it, might be surprised.

Thanks for the advise !!! I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Full retail on the E815 on the VW website is 289.99. With a 25% discount, the price wouls be $215 or so. Would I still get a $50.00 rebate ???

No you do not receive a rebate any time you pay full retail for equipment (the 25% disc. you speak of is a customer courtesy)

That makes sense about the rebate. Although I have never had any luck with customer care, I'll give it a try and see if it works ....Thanks

My bad...

I thought it was for an upgrade price, i must have missed it in there somewhere!

In your case the phone would be $259.

Yeahright had a good point it is something that is offered but not advertised.

Unfortunately the retail phones do not come with a rebate.

I hope everything works out for you, and hopefully you can find it at a descent price.

Also you could always try Ebay as well. When most people get new phones they either have a drawer full at home (like myself) or they sell them to get whatever they can for them. You might want to take a look and see whats out there!

Ebay is an option ....Has anyone bought a Verizon phone (new in box) from Ebay and if so, how was the transaction ?? Is there any prominent Ebay sellers out there that you trust ??? Let me know ....Thanks

Yeahright,

I went to Verizon to inquire about the 25% off retail. They thought I was NUTZ !!! The rep said he had never heard of such a thing. The price either at the store OR online is $289.99 before tax. Needless to say, I walked out without the new E815 .....Oh well ...

If it helps ours is 259.00 plus tax... thats only 41.50 over the 25% off price of a corp. store. I'd price shop at a store.
