My contract is up May 3rd and I can't choose between Verizon or Cingular. Right now I'm leaning toward Cingular because they phone awesome phones, and good minutes and plans. The only draw back that I've been seeing is the coverage. I'm in the Columbus, OH area and Verizon gives me great service I always have 5 bars everywhere. The only reason I'm considering leaving verizon is their phones. Yeah I know everyone is tired of hearing it but the UI pretty much suck ***. Well and the plans for Verizon are getting expensive and they are trying to squeeze every penny out of there customers. I have herd that the RAZR V3i is coming out in May and plan on getting that. Other wise for Verizon I would choose the Moto E815 or the 8100. I really like Mot...

Well i am in columbus, not sure where you are located but cingular has issues around the outside of the outer belt, few dead spots up north of new albany, just south of pickerington and licking county(newark) has awful coverage. Verizon is basically got you covered unless you go down to wayne national forest or hocking hills. I am on the east side and get custoemrs everyday with cingular complaining they don't work in their house and i get few complaints about verizon coverage. I have also heard they have tower bandwidth issues.(per example after one of the ohio state games my buddy couldn't call out on his phone and just got that fast buisy becasue the switch was full, took him about 15 tries to get a call out and my verizon worked just fin...

Noone can answer this question for you guy, I would just try cingular out for yourself pretty simple. If it works well where you live, work, and play then you'll be straight. If not then you'll realize that gadget phones are just that. Plus haven't you heard cingular has the fewest dropped calls of any carrier so your chances are good 🙄 🤣 😉 J/K
Good luck to you the UI does suck

I would assume in a Verizon forum that the answer would mostly be Verizon 😁

In reality, phones are phones and the coolness and interface should be a secondary criteria. If the a carrier you choose has the coolest phone ever but no coverage to back it up, you have a very fancy paperweight. It's gotta be useful as a communication device.

As for Columbus, I know Verizon has pretty solid coverage in the area and service should be realy consistant.

I can't speak on behalf of Cingular so going to forums (Mobiledia.com) that discuss coverages should be useful.

No matter how much you like a phone, it isn't worth a year or two of frustration. However, most carriers do a solid job. The question remains; is it where you need to use it? A...

im from columbus aswell. id go with verizon and the e815 its a great phone with no standard red bar UI. cingular does have some deadspots around 270 and other network issues in the columbus area that you will want to look into before you make any difinitive choices.

I have tried cingular and it blows in columbus. I would try it out if you want, but I didn't even keep it 3 days because I kept dropping calls, or just couldn't connect at home, work or anywhere I went.

I'd go wit' the Nokia 6256 myself.

Very good reception, lotsa features, and it doesn't use the Verizon UI. Not sure if the 'official' Verizon stores carry it though- ya might have to go to Circuit City or Best Buy to get one. Solid choice.

Only the Circuit City VZW locations carry the Nokia 6256i at the corporate level. If someone is eligible for an upgrade, get it from the Circuit City VZW and not Best Buy. I don't know about all Best Buy locations that carry VZW, but the Best Buy in Hobart Indiana charges $99.99 with 2 year subscription for new customers, and $50 more ($149.99) for 2 year contract on an upgrade. Why should someone have to pay more for an upgrade than someone who's s...
