BEDMINSTER, NJ and SAN JOSE, CA — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced a strategic alliance with Verizon Wireless to start a mobile ecosystem built around Flash® technology that will allow developers to create new interactive mobile content experiences for Verizon Wireless customers. Through this agreement, Verizon Wireless is expected to become the first wireless operator in North America to introduce Flash-enabled handsets that use the technology to deliver a customized user experience. Developers will be able to create and offer new rich content, applications and data services based on Flash and targeted at these handsets.

"At Verizon Wireless we recognize that an exciting and simple to use mobile exp...

On one hand I think it's really cool because I don't appreciate the standardized UI, but on the other hand I think it's weak sauce. I don't want to pay for something just to have back what was originally stripped away. Now if these new customization options go way behind what the original manufacture would do then bring it on. The bottom line for me is I still find it annoying that the manufacture UI is not available to me. Overall I'm optimistic and hoping for the best. 🙂

Verizon today announced it will include Adobe Flash technology in future handsets. Flash will be used as a platform to deliver applications, online content and also interface customization. Japanese carriers use Flash in a similar manner - providing online content, applications and home screen customization. The most recent version of Flash can even be used to customize the entire interface of the phone, not just the main menu. Verizon has not announced the extent to which it will use Flash in the new handsets nor when those handsets will launch.

whenever this stuff comes out, it will simply give you more options than you have now. Obviously we don't know what those options are or what, if anything, they'll cost. But complaining about something before you've seen or even heard a shred of features it will bring to the table is just annoying. Will it cost something, probably, but how many people (especially those of you who complain about the red bars) would like the OPTION of something different. How many of those people would pay a small amount to change the red bars. I understand you'd like the option of using the normal manufacturer's UI. But honestly I can't stand moto's ui, or samsungs for that matter. I might be more convinced to use one of those manufacturer's phones if i had a...

As much as we all think verizon is greedy and what not, they are just great business people. the cell world is constantly evolving and verizon is evolving with it. I dont care if they charge, everything in this world cant be free and if it really makes me happier then maybe it's worth a couple of bucks...All of you are gonna hate now, then you will be first ones to go on get it now and download a new UI for 3.99! There is a reason why verizon is number 1 and this is it.

P.S. and if you want to talk about someone ripping you off, why don't you talk about starbucks selling a freakin coffee with touch of milk and whipped cream for $5.00...yeah, thats fair... 🙄
