Just want to know how come it takes Verizon ages to come out with new phones despite all the phones have been approved and we see pictures of them all over the places?

This message is not to whine about Verizon. I just want to know why for personal knowledge. Thanks!

Verizon does this as a combination of reliability testing & marketing. Moreso the reason is the reliability testing. Phones go through a multi-stage process of being tested by network testers, volunteer testers from throughout the organization, etc. Think perhaps of the phone being in beta testing once it's approved by the FCC. The bugs have to be shaken out for the most part before the phone will be approved for general sale. You think that there are problems with the phones from time to time, imagine what would happen if thorough testing was not done to ensure that the phone was reliable enough for general sale. Just like with software, there will be unknown bugs even after the product comes out of testing, but there are lots of bugs...

ah yes another Verizon lacky. Now don't get me wrong i love Verizon but I am not always going to believe everything they said. Have you heard of the LG VX-6100 and Moto T720 an T730. Now the problem with the VX-6100 was easy to fix, but if they had this reliablity testing you said then it would have been fixed before the public got it.

IMHO I don't really think it takes forever for Verizon to get phones in. And I think that Verizon finally has some really good handsets that do a lot of stuff. I am looking forward to working for them and helping them reclaim their rightful position as number one.

the 6100 had some bugs i will give you that, but the 720 was probably just pushed out to early, everyone was pushing to get a color display out on the market and i think they rushed it out a little to fast. Those things were garbage, but they kinda of fell in the moto trend of garbage, v60i was a great phone then nothing but garbage for years until the 815 came out, and so far so good on the razr and 325. I am just happy moto got their crap together, I don't worry as much as i used to about selling them or carrying one. EX(v120e,720,730,343,v60s,265,276,710) all buggy junk in my opinion. New charging ports, better build quality and less software issues! I just wish the razr ui was faster, drives me nuts with the delay, but at least it charge...

i seriously doubt that testing phase is causing the delay of release of new phones.

release dates should be determined prior to testing. the way it seems that verizon offers a release date and have customer all excited then they test the phones.

i agree with the trying to get every little penny out of the current phone. the razr is the perfect example. "new" phone to verizon with an old concept. verizon still charged $400 retail. 👿

And guess what people still bought it. And it was not an old phone since the VZW version had a 1.3 camera and vcast, neither of which are available on the GSM version.

My sister wished the Samsung a850 worked better than it does now. Her speakerphone isn't worth talking into as it doesn't always pickup what she says. Also she says reception is an issue at times. She wishes her reception matched that of my Samsung a650. I know the speakerphone is a Samsung problem because I have a co-worker with a similar looking phone for T-Mobile, and also has problems with his speakerphone. I'm not sure if the reception issue is a Samsung problem, or a Verizon problem because of the UI. I have heard the VZW UI seems to make some phones not work as well as it would if it had the manufacturers UI. I don't know that for sure. I myself usually prefer the manufacturers UI, but I haven't tried a newer phone with the VZ...

The testing thing is still true whether or not you've made the choice to beleive it. It still remains true. What you've done is provided the exceptions as what you show to be proof that Verizon does not delay due to testing. However, if you were to note that shortly after the T720/730 issue, Moto phone went down to nil for some time. Moto was not offering reliable stuff.

That's a side note, however. What no carrier can know with testing of perhaps total of people in 10's to 100's is how it will react when it is in the hands of 10's of thousands. Those small trends or anomolies that appear to be fixed can create a substantially larger trend arc that could not be forseen in the limited pre-release testing..Even if the carrier tests more tha...
