recent lack of service....

For the past couple of days the service around my area (near lake erie) has been off and on. It goes from full bars all day to having no bars or 1 bar for awhile, then back to no bars. It's been off and on like this for about 3 days now, I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this problem, and if it means maybe they are updating some of the towers in my area, or just something that happens.

not sure, i would try *228 option 2 that could help the problem, it could also be a network issue if it is the latter its something that im sure vzw is aware of and is working to resolve

I have also recently been experiencing service problems. I live in L.A. and recently I have NO SERVICE AT ALL in and around my home. I thought it may be my phone but many people I know with verizon tell me they're experiencing similar problems. well i'm not gonna wait for verizon to fix it im just gonna jump to cingular because not having service in my own home is ridiculous

Why would you just jump ship before making a simple phone call to 611?

well the lack of service just gave me more of a reason to go to cingular. simply put, verizon phones suck. cingular always seems to get first dibs on cooler more advanced phones while verizon gets its sloppy seconds. i originally switched from cingular to verizon a couple years back because the service was waaayy better, but now that cingular has grown since its acquisition of at&t, and people i know with it have said service is good, i'm willing to give it another shot. unless verizon plans on getting a cool new phone soon and fix the service problem, the new razr v3i w/ CINGULAR is mine.

thats fine Verizonuserr we do have alot of cool phones that will be out in 2006. to name a few:

the RAZR v3m which is more advanced then the v3i
LG vx8300, and 5300
Samsung SCh a930 and a990(VZW Exclusive 3.2 megapixel camera, MP3 player, EVDO, Bluetooth, and memory card slot)
Motorola Q (VZW Exclusive, bad ass PDA phone)

as for your coverage issue, im sorry that you are experiencing a problem I am sure a simple call to customer care (*611 or 1800-922-0204) will fix your problem, id call from a landline if possible for troubleshooting.

The RAZR V3m and V3i are the same phone, except for the fact that one is CDMA and the other is GSM (plus the V3i will be available in more colors at launch).

that so? can you download music over the air on the v3i? can you watch streaming tv clips on the v3i? its not EVDO capable and therefore is inferior, as is the Cingular data(and voice) network at this time.

more colors tho, thats what really matters

EVDO is a CDMA technology. So its a little difficult for the V3i to support that.

No you will not be able to download music over the air with the V3i.

However:

Yes you will be able to watch streaming TV clips on with the V3i.
Both are music phones.
Both will have removable memory.
Both will have Bluetooth (although the V3m will undoubtedly be crippled in some manner).
Both will have 1.3 megapixel cameras.
Both will have video capture.
Both will have the same internal and external screens.
Both will be the same old RAZR.

I don't quite see how the V3i not being capable of OTA music downloads makes the V3m so much more 'superior.' Since bluetooth won't be fully capable on the V3m, does that mean that the V3i is now superior?

Hmm... being on Verizon's network instead of Cingular's (a huge positive in my area) versus suffering through crippled bluetooth and no colors 'cept gray...

Adding it up, I'd still take the VZW RAZR. Of course, I already have VZW's network AND no crippled bluetooth, 'cuz I have the Nokia 6256. 🙂

SERVICE has resumed in my area after being out for a week. hopefully it remains this way.

and..
razr v3m? didn't know that was due out for verizon. any idea when its going to be released? since it's not listed on this site, i'm guessing it's gonna be a while. but an exact approximation would be nice. i would seriously reconsider if it came out anytime within the next couple months. if anyone has ANY idea please let me know.
