Verizon and T-Mobile did very well, US Cellular and Alltel did well in their home markets, Sprint was mid-pack, and Cingular finished last in almost every region. 😳

Oh well, those orange "We got the best network" Cingular billboards are still kinda cool-lookin' πŸ˜‰

4 JD Powers employees were formerly associated with Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile.

They must not be reputable.

First I've heard of it. Any links to that info? And JD Powers probably has a lot of employees... chances are a few of 'em have worked for AT&T or a company affiliated wit' it, or a car company (they rate those too)... so why are we assumin' that JD Power is on the take again? Oh yeah... 'cuz Cingular didn't do well in their tests, and you sell Cing. Got it. 😎

Regardless, they do seem to know what's what. Much better than Telephia, which is tryin' to tell me that Cingular is the "best network in the SF Bay Area", when all the peeps I know there tell me the same thing: that Cing is pretty lame there.

I think he was referring to the members on this site who have repeatedly tried to argue the following: Since two people that now work for Telephia, formerly worked for Cingular, the company is throwing the results in Cingular's favor.

A very weak argument for anyone.

And Tex was probably being sarcastic. πŸ˜‰

I wouldn't argue that Telephia is on the take... jus' that they don't seem to know what's what, at least in NorCal.

I mean, if Cingular really was the 'best network' in the SF Bay Area, those poor peeps would b screwed 😳

i live in the SF Bay Area my whole life and ive had cingular in the past and now i have Verizon.... i have NEVER found a spot in the bay where cingular had more bars than Cingular. Most everyone who has cingular tells me that they hate it. Cingular has been renamed "Suck-ular" and "Single-bar" by some.

Roffle. No, the issue with Telephia is that its CEO and CFO were very recently employed with Cingular. If you think that's the same as a couple or three front-line grunts working for Verizon for a couple years before getting hired by JD Power, I can't help you.

But you can read, right?

That has to be the most ignorant statement I have ever seen you make.

Ebonics is a made-up language, created by some educators who meant well, but who were kinda dumb at the same time.

Street is just dialect, and actually, there are many flavas of 'street', depending where you are.

There are some surface similarities maybe, but saying that ebonics and street are the same thing is like saying Esperanto and English are the same. One's a manufactured language, one is real, and the content isn't even the same.

Capiche? 😎

T-Mobile seems to have a very high customer satisfaction rating, but their coverage area is pretty weak here in Michigan, which forced me to go to Verizon.

Coverage area doesn't seem to be a consideration in these surveys, or am I missing something?

It's probably more of a thing where people who sign up to T-Mobile do so after talking to Cingular or VZW reps who tell them that their coverage is going to suck, and are then pleasantly surprised that it doesn't. Honestly I think T-Mobile is a fine carrier and if people only use their phones in the city and are willing to sacrifice a little reliability, they've got great prices, don't lock you into one so-called "Fair and Flexible" plan for the life of your contract, and let's face it have fantastic customer service. I don't really see them directly competing against VZW but operating in a different niche.

Because once you start to make money for yourself, you want something more than cheap. I think people don't hold it against T-Mobile because the company never pretends to be more than what it is, but there comes a time when you need to move on to somebody who's going to give you more than a hopeful thumbs-up when it comes to getting reception in your home calling area.

Well, T-Mo underestimates their coverage. Verizon might be over-estimating their coverage. Why else would their coverage maps have this pretty little gem:

"This map is not a guarantee of coverage and may contain areas with no service."

Thats the coverage locator page on vzw. Sides, its only accurate to, accoring to this map, four cities of space.

(BTW-The map shows Coverage for all of Bellevue and Redmond, but the Crossroads area in Bellevue is a known bad spot for coverage. Along with some areas in Redmond. At least, that what the dude from VZW said to me when I asked him.)

I went to a Radioshack and asked them to check the MTi for Cingular. I think I got much more than a hopeful thumbs up, they showed me Cingulars 3 tower...

BTW--I give a thumbs up to T-Mo for having the -- "Give us an address, and we'll show you exactly what coverage we have there" -- on their site.

I also thumbs up for Cingular's MTi - "address = coverage and nnearby towers" - in the stores. Hopefully Cingy puts this on their site soon. I heard they encourage their sales reps to use it before signing anyone up, just so the customer knows for sure if they have service at home or wherever they use it most.

You an' me both. T-mobile does really great on the customer satisfaction surveys, but they also have a very high churn ('customers leaving') rate.

So how does that work??? :

T-Mobile Customer: WOW! T-Mobile is great!

Customer Service Person: We're glad you're so pleased with us.

T-M Customer: So I'm leaving you.

CS Person: WHAT?!?

T-M Cust: Yep, I'm so satisified I'm bailing ASAP. C-ya!

CS Person: *faints*

😳
