yah sirius is pretty sweet. but it wouldn't be a shame considering it wouldn't effect cingular/your sirius subscription that you already have.

AM/FM radio could come to handsets too, but Verizon would not allow it. The whole Verizon Bluetooth scam is centered around hacking OEM firmware. The tactic is to force 'off network' features onto their paid subscriber network to generate revenue, simply because the technology is available to cripple that feature and then measure it's usage.

So the Bluetooth problem could be only the tip of the iceberg. Charging for 'off network' features could eventually mean subscribers paying for printing of pictures from the phone, ...

What about when you buy a data cable to use the phone as a modem. Sprint lets you use Vision with no extra fee, but even if you have V-Cast, verizon charges 59.99 a month for phone as modem. Thats the same price as using an aircard.

why wouldnt you have to pay to have sirius satelite radio on your vzw handset if it did come, its not free on sprint, and its not free from sirius.

"Sprint expects to link the Sirius satellite channels users can already subscribe to to the music store. If a user hears a song he likes while listening to a satellite channel, he will be able to click a button to buy that song and have it downloaded to his handset and desktop account."

My point was that Verizon's business model of charging for every off-network feature and trying to make it proprietary will not work with the topic of the post. They will never allow users to link to the services they already subscribe to.
