So...things have finally come to a head here at AIS. My supervisor who hates me and for whom I have no love lost either (see accompanying link),
https://www.phonescoop.com/forums/forum.php?fm=m&ff= ... »has pretty much gotten me fired. She reported me for saying the word "damn" while on the call center floor (not even on the phone, mind you). When I explained to our Ops Manager that I felt she was personally attacking me (possibly because of my race), he said that he would back her up and that he was certain this was not the case (standard company man answer). I told him that I was waiting until our shift bid results came in so that I would know who my new supervisor would be. He then told me that I couldn't do shift bid and th...

I still work for AIS, but it has become apparent that my job security amounts to zero and that I won't have much longer before she actually succeeds at getting me fired. That's why I applied for VzW.

I've worked for Verizon indirectly for a few years. I like it fine. I haven't been on the CS side of it though so my opinion probably isn't that valid.
...
yeah...but thanks for the response.....
...
I work for a VzW Indirect and I love it.
I don't know what everyone else tells you... sorry.
My company does - relatively quickly too.
Yes - Bonus Bucks
My store is BRAND new. I was here the first day we opened. Smells a lot like coffee though.
No.

The Benefits couldn't be any better, from the employee phone program to the coscto
membership. The benefits run deep.
Promote well? I was promoted twice in my first year.
Which incentive program? They have a few.
My center has a restaraunt, LCD 17 inch screens on all desks, almost all covered parking etc.
...
sweet....that is what I was wanting to hear. Everyone I've talked to who has worked or does work at VzW says it's great. I definitely would like to get the job. It's about $3 an hour more than I make here in Hell.
...
expect four weeks of training
...
they told me 5. but that's cool. 5 weeks of pay to be told how to do my job. I can handle that.
...
I think its 6 weeks now, like it used to be. Depending where your at is what your pay is. In a few years I went from about 13 an hour to a little over 17. Choosing your path where to go once your inside Verizon is the only hard thing to to.
...
I would want to do training.....it was my best thing that I did here. I was a lead for our academy team and I loved it. I hope that they promote well into their training department.
...
That wouldnt be hard for you to do, my center is always hiring trainors, 2 people from my training class became trainors.
...
The benefits own.. I had a apendichotus my first month on the job snd medical covered the entire 23000.00 bill with no co-pay. Did I mention you get 401k first day you start along with medical and dental.. Freaking awsome. I don't know anyone in the company that make less than 10.00 a hour.. This is direct BTW I don't know if you ment direct but its awsome.. CS gets no real KPI pressure either unlike us in Sales :p
...
that's cool.....yeah, it'll be direct Care at the call center in Murfreesboro, TN. I also know that VzW does regional care and sales. Is there anything special I should know about the region I'm in (besides the fact that I should run if I ever hear banjos in the woods)?
...
if your in the midwest region you'll love it. i have yet to meet one person that hates it the bennies are great and pay is off the hook.
the only con i have heard outta some folks mouth is they are a little ticked they dont get landline discounts.
but everything else they seem to love.
goodluck and on your last day piss you sup and her boss off 😎
...
I've already had like 3 people tell me that they want to be here when I quit because they know I'll make a scene. It's crazy.
...
do you have any followers?
...
free hookers and tab cola.

I can only speak from my experiance but comeing from Radio Shack of 3.5 years its like night and day. Verizon if a fast paced ever changeing job. My training was just shy of 6 weeks they do pay .45 a mile though 🙂. Getting back on subject our call centers for the most part rock! VZW has very high standards and haveing dealt with a varity of centers Most of the Teams take there cust satifaction rate very seriously. My GF also work for VZW and has been promoted twice since join less then a year ago. We've covered benefits but they also have discounted tickets to rock concerts with private box options (i saw Nine inch nails for 20 bux media seating) and vested contributions. I don't mean to come off as a recruiter or anything and there is allw...

The benefits are great. I think I would work there just for them.. not. lol I really pay pennies for our health and dental. I have a $10 copay for dr., meds are cheap, my surgery & inpatient stay - no copay, no deductible. It's unreal. My life insurance policy is almost 1 mill. and I don't pay much. I can't say enough about their benefits. Their timeoff policy and the amount of time off you get is great.
They do have an incentive plan for long and short term. I can't get specific, you will learn when you get hired. It's all good though.
All facilities I have been to are maintained, clean, ergonomic for the most part, and they spoil us with gyms, chefs in the cafeteria, employee discounts everywhere...
They promote from within and ...

How is it working at VzW?
Great
Are the benefits really as good as everyone says?
better. VZW pays for 90%or more of everything.
Do they promote well from within?
90% of promotions are from within
Do they have an incentive program?
yep STI (short term incentive) every year in febuary thats around 2-5k usually. and LTI(long term incentive) every like 5 years and its even more.
How are the facilities?
all the ones iv seen are very nice, get your own desk that no one else sits at, confortable seats with arm rests and big 19inch lcd monitors, also its full cubes.
Is this too many questions?
nope
How about now?
k now it kinda is
...
oh ya and the one i work at has a starbucks, cafeteria, and gym in it. pretty much working for VZW rules
...
Stupid question, but how might someone go about getting a job at a call center? No offense, but I would also like to find out how to get a job at a Cingular call center. I like their phones/employee plan better.
Any input would be great, thanks.
...
Thanks, but I already submitted an application through their website, now I have to find out what the deal with it is. I kinda need a phone number to contact them at.
...
To whoever asked about working @ Cingy vs VZW...from what I understand, there is a big pay difference, with VZW paying significantly more. Not sure about your area.
As far as working for VZW, not only has it been voted in the top 100 places for working mothers (like myself) the benefits are unmatched! Full medical, dental and vision from day one. 401k, from day one. Two weeks of paid vacation, 1 week of paid personal and one week of paid sick time, from day one. Of course that will be prorated if you start in the middle of the year. After 3 years of service you get 3 weeks of vacation, 1 wk personal & 1 week of sick.
You get a yearly bonus, which is very nice. I'm not talking a couple of hundred bucks. My first bonus was wel...
