I have a question regarding suspending service. I have a friend that is leaving for the virgin islands for a couple of months, and verizon of course does not have service there. Can he suspend his account for a couple months and start it up when he returns to the states. I thought I heard somewhere you can do that, but do not remember the terms, such as I think it extends the contract, and there is a time limit. If anyone can help, would be much apprecitated. thanks in advance

vacation suspend, 15$ one time fee, billing stops on the line, contract is extended for the ammount of time it is in the suspension (obviously, you arent paying) lasts up to 90 days i think. call customer care for more info

There is a $15 suspend fee for vacation purposes. You can suspend for a total of 90 days. 30 of those days can be w/o billing and the remaining 60 w/ billing. Or you can suspend the entire 90 w/ billing. If you suspend w/o billing for those 30 days it would extend your contract for 30 days and prorate the minutes and access charges and will resume billing on the 31st day but stay suspended for the remaining 60. On the 91st day service will automatically reconnect. Hope this helps...

Dude, I really hope you don't work for VZW, because if you do, I don't think you will last long. This information is completely incorrect. In the NE area (and I can only speak to the Northeast), depending on where you live determines how your suspension will work. First of all, a vacation suspend can be up to 90 days regardless of your area. Second of all, your contract WILL be extended for the number of days that you leave the phone on suspension. Third, you can do up to two 90 day vacation suspends each year. This is where it is different. If you live in PA, Southern NJ, Deleware, MD, VA, or NC (or if your account number is followed by -00001, -00002, etc.) you will only pay a ONE time $15 suspend fee and your line will be suspended...

the above poster is correct.

The poster above is correct with one exception. The poster quoted prices for the suspend. These are I2K (excuse me non verizon reps for the VZW terms) charged. Vision does not charge a fee while suspended and as I am assuming all NE care reps know the conversion has started and will be completed shortly. IF this person suspends BEFORE the conversion is ended THEN they will get the fees. (I believe the fees are actually being carried into vision for the remainder of the suspend.) IF the customer is suspending after the conversion is complete (should finish the beginning of June), THEN they will be subject to Vision rules and have no suspend fees. Of course, this is all semantics, I just wanted it to be known that the fees may not apply anymor...

First off, thats waaay too many fees for a rep to keep track of. Out here in the wild wild west it's $15 and you get 90 days w/o billing but it extends your contract by that many days. You can do it twice in a year.
Why does it differ in other areas? That is crazy to have to keep track of all that..

you can in fact use you phone in the Virgin Islands (hello my fellow reps s 😳 ??)...Int'l CDMA Raoming will be @ $.69 p/min...you can susonnd for up to 900 days (lngth of susp adds to lngth of cntrct, $15 initial fee)
